Default Air Intake Tubing Size/Fitment

I measured all of the OD's tonight. The LS6 TB is 3-7/8" OD, the TB side of the MAF is 3-11/16" OD and the MAF screen side is 3-13/16". I am going to get a 4" ID to 3-1/2" ID rubber reducing elbow - will I be able to force the MAF onto the rubber? Is there enough stretch to do that?

What about coming off the other side - 3-1/2" ID tubing vs 3-13/16" on the MAF is quite a mis-match. What have others done? -Bob

I would say use a 4" pipe off the tb and adapt it to the maf. and clamp a k&n to the other side of the maf and call it a day.

Yes you should be able to get the MAF into the 3.5 rubber. That is a common solution.

I used 4" on mine, but 3.5" will work just fine.

Maybe you could post a pic of the car and what you are trying to do. If you did that guys here could probably give you exact part numbers for what you are trying to do.

I'm going to reduce it because I need every 1/4" of clearance between the TB and fans/rad.

Which material will stretch better - rubber or silicone? -Bob

Yea if you are fighting clearance issues reduce it. I doubt it will make too much difference anyway.

I definately prefer silicone over rubber. It holds up to heat much better. The silicone should stretch over all your parts without an issue.

I use a rubber 4" to 3 1/2" elbow from the TB to the MAF, then 3 1/2" the rest of the way out.

I got my elbow from Jagsthatruns.com but many other will have what you need. Generally 4" and 3 1/2" is what everyone uses.

Try www.intakehoses.com. Bught all the stuff I needed for a little over a hundred bucks, they have silicone and plain rubber....

Got some silicon tubing parts in today - the 4" to 3.5" 90 deg reducer is too sloppy for the TB. I couldn't find a 3.75 to 3.5 reducing elbow. So I'm going to cut a small piece of the 3.75" straight tube as a spacer (about 3/4" wide) - how are you guys cutting this stuff to get a straight cut?
