Default engine braking backfiring/popping

anyone else get it? its starting to get annoying now, and i read that getting a tune with correcting the VE table for that condition (0 throttle, 100% vacuum) will get rid of that excess fuel getting in the header.

I have it, not bad though. I also have a mail order tune, header leak, and bosch o2's. So I figure once I get a dyno tune, AC Delco o2's, and no exhaust leaks, it will be much better off.

Is your car tuned?
Heard bad things about the Bosch units, unfortunately they were all I had (NIB) when I put the LT's on.
Also check for leaky injectors.

untuned since i put the LTs on

ive been taking a torch to the o2's and heating them to 600F to clean them periodically, but i dont see if thats doing any good.

injectors dont leak any, plugs are dry when its sitting

Get some new AC Delco o2's, get a tune, and you should be good to go.

I have this same issue, not terribly loud though...might have a slight exhaust leak myself, Bosch's as well as it was all they had for me too when I needed them, and I'm waiting for my mail order tune still. I will update on if the mail order tune helps or not. I blame most of it on my exhaust if there is a leak as I swear I hear a ticking exhaust pop slightly when I drive it...but I've been extra **** since the header swap and hear/feel everything now :-p

If the tune doesn't help...I will move on to the O2s...then try and locate the pesky leak if the O2s don't fix it. Not high on the list though as I have other issues right now and O2s are kind of expensive when you are tight on cash and have other wish list items.

Just wanted to add...I check my exhaust manifold bolts again and found that the very back bolt on the passenger side manifold had worked itself loose and fallen out. I put a new bolt in and torqued it down and the back firing almost disappeared. It still pops every now and then during engine braking or between shifts, but it got much much better.
