Decided on my H/C setup, need to pick what stall
Well, I have decided to go with a TSP 228R cam and some TSP ls6 stg 2.5 heads. I am wondering what stall speed I should go with. I asked a guy from tsp, but I haven't gotten an answer yet, so I just figured I would throw it up here.
I was thinking either a vig 3600 or a yank ss3600. I know they are both great converters, and I am leaning towards the vig, but I have heard that I should actually be looking at a yank ss4000.
I just want the stall that will work best with that combo. What would ya'll suggest?
BTW, if I can't get any answer from tsp soon, I may be changing my choice on cam and heads over to a futral cam and not 100% on the heads but I am certain I can find some somewhere.

Swift, I spoke with you before I think but you should give me a call and see what I have that can help compliment your combo.

Yeah I guess a got a little thread happy, my bad. I updated the old ones though. I just want to make sure that I get the right stall for that combination. I don't want to spend the money on everything and screw up on the converter. And believe me, I won't be going cheap on the stall.

Hopefully you guys will be understanding of the fact that this is the first sports car I have ever had and I really love this car and want it to run in tip top shape. I know I have started quite a few threads over my time on here about cams and stalls and such, but now I have finally decided what I am wanting to do, and am just trying my hardest to make sure this is going to be good for me and my car. I have heard that you should match your stall to your cam, so I'm just concerned. Hopefully ya'll can understand that.

Are you going to be driving the car fairly often? I think the ss3600 should be fine. I drove my friend's bolt-on car with an ss4000 and it was a nightmare as far as driving it around. As far as performance he ran the same exact e.t. as another friend with the same mods except a fuddle 2800. I'm not sure how the 4000 would be with h/c but I think the 3600 would be good.

the reason you friends ss4000 was a nightmare is because its fairly loose. Get an FTI that stall to 4000 and is fairly tight, and it will drive pretty damn good on the street.

Interesting feedback on the SS4000....I ran one for a year and it was almost too tight for my tastes. Don't get me wrong, it was a great street/strip converter, but I wanted something a little looser with more topend. Between the two, I'd lean towards the SS4000....I ran an ST3500 before the SS4000 and streetability was almost identical. All the improvements were at WOT. Either way, you're making a great decision by going with Yank. They'll treat you good and give you an exceptional converter!

Are these stalls you all speak of like progressive stalls? I haven't done much research on stalls, but if these are constant stalls, driving around at 4000 rpms seems kinda senseless...

It's your car and in the end you will have to live with it one person's opinion of a stall being tight might be to loose to another opinions are just that they differ your best bet would be to ride in a few different sized stalled cars in your area if you can that will give you the best idea of which one you can live with and remember one companies stall might drive a little looser/tighter than the other. In my opinion don't go with anything less than 3600 I have an FTI 4000 its not bad at all to me I would'nt go with anthing less I love it and its what I recommend FTI, circled, vig, and yank are all great companies you can't go wrong with either but FTI is who I recommend give greg a call at FTI.
