Default Cam shopping

I have been looking in the classifieds for a small cam but not to much luck finding one so I may just go ahead and purchase a new one. Any of you guys have good experience w/ anyone in particular on this board? I know most of you don't go small cams so the advise in there will be close to nill, but would like to know where everyone shops.
Thanks for all info guys.

Let me repost your question, what kinda cam size will be perfect for an A4 with stock stall? The cam MIGHT go with a set of ported 5.3 milled to 58cc.

Maybe you should get Pat-G or Pred-Z to spec you one.

When you say small cam how small do you mean. Try to give a much info as you can so your cam will be optimized for your combo. You cant say I might use these heads and get stellar results. I spoke with PredatorZ about my setup and he spec'd a cam. I also filled out the custom cam card on Futral's site and Alan spec'd one for me. Both were pretty similar but the predZ cam was a touch more aggressive so I went with that. I was a little hesitant to have a cam ground because some guy on the internet said so but I did my research and his grinds do very well and he knows what he is talking about.

Tr224 is a proven all around cam.You can go up to 228 or 230 and still pass smog.I assume your in California and need to pass smog.

Yes, any 224 will pass smog no problem. However IMO 228 is a "Maybe" and 230 will be a "No". I've seem it b4. Except Pat-G or Pred-Z can custom spec a 228 or 230 that'll pass smog. Also, his major concern is the stock stall.

Im all about great heads and small cams(see sig). I just installed a new cam in my truck mand most people on here think Im crazy for going to small. The forum seems to think everything need to be Large/HUGE.

I have been buying Comp stuff since I started hotroddding 13yrs ago, so I went with Comps newest lobe design. They make one thats 215/223 .600ish lift that would owrk very well. If you want something less aggressive they make a 216/220 .525ish lift that work great on stock(ish) vehicles.

also, youre asking to broad of a question.

how do you want your car to perform, what are you planning on doing with this setup, staying NA or planning on a power adder, do you want to pass smog...etc etc

pretty much just asking for a "small cam"

small cam to me is a gm hot cam, ls6 cam, the slp cam i pulled outa my car. just go bigger and dont be disappointed.

I am not asking people's opinion on what cam to get I was asking who had good experience with a particular vendor out there in purchasing cams.

It really sounded like you were asking what cam to get not who do I get it from. I went with TSP for my custom grind. There is a cam building page on their website.
