Default How much will I knock the clock with a stall?

I wanted to add a stall something that won't burn to much gas but I'm not sure I was wondering if the more stall the more gas it will burn ,an how much will I pick up with a 2800 stall?

2800 stall is much of an upgrade from stock, atleast not worth the money. I say go with atleast a 3600 or something like the vig or yank 3200..... you can knock off about .8 off yoru ET easily on a fairly stock or bolt-on car i believe. From whawt I hear, stalled cars are much more fun.

I can't speak from experience with a F-body on the stall situation, but in my *gasp* Mustang when it had a stall it helped me get in the powerband I wanted to be in off the line, just pick carefully. The powerband varies car by car pending modification, but if your fairly stock (i.e. no massive cam heads or intake) then it should be around a 3200 stall.

I'd go from 3200-3600, depending on how aggressive you want. Either way it WILL cut down on gas mileage, and without a good cooler, more than likely cut down on tranny life. 3200 with a loose stall rate should be alot more bearable for daily use.

If you get a 3200 vig you wont be disappointed fuel mileage shouldnt suffer to bad unless you are in stop and go traffic!
Also if you have better flowing exhaust converter will work a lot better.

Stalls don't hurt mileage too bad if you set it up to lock at a certain speed in the computer. On my old 94 Z28 with a 3200 stall, it would lock the converter at 38mph if I was babying it and it seemed to keep it pretty close to the same mileage as stock. It also locked at 84mph during WOT in 3rd. Used to click off 13.2s and 13.3s with it all day until the opti started failing.

I'm not sure how you would do this in an LS1 car though. I just happened to have a friend close by that was a pretty damn good tuner and knew his ****.

P.S. Stalled cars are an absolute blast to drive. It's fun to flash the throttle with an open cutout while driving by a group of people. I've made several people scream in the past by scaring the **** out of them.

This guy in Kenner,La named Steve He tune my car and it still smell like gas I hate to say it but I got f@#$^ its cool though but my reason for saying is if I can get a tune for the stall with a diablo I can't use a stall because never going custom tune again.

Going from a cheap restalled (3000) stock converter to a 3400 PI vig in my 6 cyl (3.8L TurboBuick) S-10 was the single biggest improvement I ever made. My 60 ft time dropped from 2.3 to 1.7 and my quarter time went from 13.3 to 12.0. $700 well spent... Go for it!

3200 = a waste

If your worried about mileage and whatnot, tell the people you order your stall that. i would look at something that is usually speced for nitrous. It will be much tighter than an NA converter.

Also people without stalls or a good amount of knowledge with them arent the people to listen to.

Talk to circle d yank or whoever you want. Tell them you mileage is a concern and they will get it right.

Think about other mods you may do in the future and buy a stall that will work with them. If you want a good street/midrange cam down the road I would go with something in the 3500 range. It's not going to totally kill your gas mileage since it will still lock up at the same speeds the factory converter does unless you change it in the tune. Mine doesn't lock up until 60 mph and I still get 13 mpg around town with my mods and kicking on it some.
