Got my upgrade A4 upgrade parts
I Got my upgrade A4 upgrade parts
Here are some pics of what I have now
Any other suggestions on other upgrades?
1. 4L60E high performance overdrive billet servo. New on the market, this Maximum Overdrive Servo has 50% more holding power than the stock overdrive servo
2. 4L60E high performance intermediate billet servo. This servo has 35% more holding power (fluid apply area) than the Corvette servo found on other brands. It'll give a firmer 1-2 and 2-3 shift. It also fits 4L60E transmissions
3. 4L60E Raybestos Pro Series Band. This is a high performance band made with High Energy Black Kevlar material.
4. 4L60E 6 count 3-4 clutch set. 4L60E High Performance and Longer Clutch Life. The Blue Plate Specials are the very best in the state of the art. Some racing transmission specialists have successfully eliminated one or more clutches from a clutch pack, and have still exceeded the torque capacity of the original clutch pack. Reducing the plate count reduces parasitic drag and shortens spin-up time.
5. 4L60E Extreme Duty front planet with 5 pinion gears
6. 4L60E Extreme Duty Torque Drive Package. You get a hardened input shaft and drum assembly plus a hardened reaction shell and bearing.
7. 4L60E performance 1-2 accumulator spring. Typically the OEM 1-2 accumulator spring is too weak for high performance rebuilds. This enhanced performance spring provides a firmer 1-2 shift.
Anyway hopefully all these parts will make me a bulletproof tranny. There are a few other things I just cannot remeber what they are off the top of my head. Wish me luck !!

Thank guys
Ran into my first problem already . Where the input shaft and input drum mate together there is a big leak when air tested. But I called the company and they are shipping another one right out. Hopefully this will be the only time setback. Too bad they are so far and Ill be waiting on the new part a minimum of 4 days. Ill definitly keep updating the progress.

Good catch. It's worth doing all the steps to check everything out. Well worth the wait to do it right. Lots of people on this board buying aftermarket "racing" stuff and expecting it to be correctly put together without checking it out for themselves. That's why there are so many expensive failures. Good luck.
BTW, let us know how you like the kevlar band. They can be harsh for the street. What converter are you using?

If you did not get a 29 element input sprag get one!
That’s high wear part
Also make sure everything is clean... making sure you have the right inch lb’s specs on every bolt. Some read in inch other in foot pounds. You will break something if you tighten down to 90ftlb and it really read 90 inch pounds. I took my time and reread everything and mine came out great. Once you’re done it does not seem so imposable to rebuild one of the most complicated transmissions ever built. The gm techs found is very funny that I was a tempting to rebuild a 4l60e on my own, I had almost no knowledge of the inter workings of an automatic transmission. The only thing I missed up on was a spring for the TC lockup. Put the wrong one in. so that brings me to my next point keep very organized!
You will need a rebuild manual! You will not able to complete with out it

Those are some good parts there. Alot of the stuff I have is in that list. I think the guy you haver putting it together is as important to the tranny as the actual parts that go into it. Ive had a bad builder do a few trannys for me. IT was a friggen mess.

I like the Alto clutches a little better than the Blues (which are also really good.) The Altos hold up a little better under street usage (the Blues are said to glaze over under street type driving conditions) and there's 9 Alto clutches on the 3-4 instead of 6.

im gonna be running a stage 2 heads/cam on this with a converter...i planned on spraying a 150 shot in the future...
i suppose my best bet would be that $1400 dollar package...
i wonder how long i could get away with just the 550 dollar crap...

Funny thing is i think stock trannys rock!!
I think both kits look pretty good. I have also run the alto reds in the past and never had a problem with those. Most of my problems have been from **** poor assembly and the last tranny blew doing my burnout after the rear blew and locked up. I ripped the inside apart!! . So I had to start fresh
Some pics of that last blow up
I still can't get the three clutches and four steels apart!!! Aren't there supposed to be splines on the I.D. of the clutches
