Default Loud noise when car is in Reverse..?

Just put in an FTI converter with a performabuilt trans last month and did all the warm up and break in procedure via performabuilts instructions..fast foward to today.

I pop it in reverse and have this loud clacking noise, its probably intermitant every few seconds but its clearly there. Ideas?

Hmm well if you have it in reverse and setting still brake applied and have this noise its not gonna be in the trans since nothing is moving, And its highely unlike to be the converter either since it really does not know any difference between forward and reverse.
I would suspect one of the folowing .
1-exhaust touching something making a rattle the engine does flex the drivetrain a different way in reverse.
2-Also its unlikey but possible the converter bolts could contact the block since the line in reverse is a little higher and exerts more forward push on the converter.

But I would be looking at number 1 somethings contacting something particularly if you have a cam which would account for it being erratic.

It only ticks if I am moving in reverse, not sitting with the brake on.

Ok would look at drive shaft . ujoints, torq bar
Theres nothing unique moving in the trans thats not moving in forward gears also. So I would still be looking at and outside cause. Try getting the car on a lift in reverse and listening around unlder the car and try and isolate the sound/

It does sound like something in the tail shaft. If I cant 'see' anything what else could it be?

Without hearing it its hard to say. I cant think of anything trans related that would make a noise only in reverse. Since all the same parts move in all the various forward gears.
