Default Ion Soltan!....

Your my hero! i ordered my tune from madtuner on thursday and today i get home and BAM! there it is on my desk! i couldnt resist and immediately installed it. the car is completely different! idle is so smooth and consistent, exhaust doesnt smell like raw fuel anymore. and from a stop the car doesnt bog down or jitter like it was before! i cant wait to finally break everything in to see how she really feels now. if anyones considering a tune Definitely contact Ion and get one of his tunes ASAP!

He is a good guy. I drove my car to his place last week and he took the computer and tuned it right there while I waited. I reinstalled it and drove it home.

I got a tune from Ion, and it's just never really seemed right. Before the tune, I could pull on my cousin's '98 SS once I hit 5th. After, it was the complete opposite, and all he had done since my tune was an SLP lid. The car also runs rich as hell, even some black smoke out of the exhaust at WOT. I guess I could just be one of the very few that wasn't 100% satified with his tune, since I usually hear about nothing but good from his customers. I'll end up giving him another try with my retune here pretty soon though, since I've done a few more things, and I'll be adding 1.7RR's. I'll also need to get my speedo recalibrated for the 3.90's going in. Then, hopefully it'll be better.

"Another 900 miles" so let me guess.. You're doing a 1000mi breakin?

You should have done your car a favor and broke it in the way you were gonna drive it in the first 20 minutes you started it..

The initial startup and run phase is the most critical time to get a good seal on the rings.

After 100 miles, if its not "broke in" its never going to be.

I would start doing some spirited driving now and creating some cylinder pressure to try and get everything seated, although if you've already babied it around for 100 miles its too late.

Regardless, you have what you have and going easy on it for the next 900 or 9000 miles isn't going to make a damn bit of difference

Well adding a lid to an ls1 usually will net 15hp, mainly up top too. Sounds like the ls1 just got faster. The only reason I say this is because you car is mainly stock. Which I would think would be very hard to **** the tune up on. To the op, I have herd really good things about ion,

I was pleased with my tune I had from Ion, and the service was really fast, I too was surprised at how fast I had my PCM back in my hands.

I was gonna have him do mine but it seemed as tho he was having some issues at the time. He was running the same cam as me so that's why I was interested. Oh well, I think my tune could use a lil refining but runs good overall.

He tuned my pcm after I installed the lt4 cam kit. Amazing difference! Couldn't complain if I had to.

You can easily do "sprinted" driving on a new clutch.

The first drive is crutial (SP), I ended up pulling my motor and rehoning and installing new rings because they didn't seat right on the first setup. I was on a new clutch the 2nd time around. You don't have to go out and do 6500 clutch drops or anything, but some 1/2 throttle pulls to 3500 or so then let the motor slow you back down, don't brake or push in the clutch. Then do a 4000 pull at 1/2 throttle and slow back down, then a couple 3/4 throttle pulls and you should be good.

Thats what I did the 2nd time around and my rings are good now. If you put 1k miles of grandma driving you are probably hurting more than its helping.
