One other ? about cats

Thumbs up One other ? about cats

i tryed having someone tell me there is only 1 cat on a ls1 someone said the other one is a resonater why would you have 02s in a resonater i wanna know someone tell me?

There are two cats. One each side of the engine, located where it goes 4 pipes into 1, the cat is located just behind that. From there goes to a Y-pipe, joining both exhausts to a single pipe to run down the car to the back box/resonator located after the rear axle.

As for O2's there are two each side. Two located before the cats, the other two after the cats.

The front two control your fueling. The rear two just lets the PCM know if the cats are functioning(or so i believe) I've removed the rear O2's, and deleted them from the PCM.
