I'll pull the trigger and get one depending on how good the deal is. I usually see #917264 for about $450-460, so I have held off.
Put me down as definitely interested.

:) Thats normally only $379.95, $359 is an OK deal but not what I would consider something you can't refuse. We need two more to hit 7 and I'll pm people with prices.
part number 917246 and delete the a/c pulley....
 Not entirely sure what you meant. #917264 is set up for cars with A/C. If I recall, there is a different model # for cars without A/C. There is also one that is 10% underdriven for LSX cars.
I need #917264 because I am definitely keeping A/C on that particular car.

Chris/guys, "part number 917246 and delete the a/c pulley" is verbatim what John at ATI told me i needed. in fact here's what he put exactly, copied from the email:
Ok the damper for you is our 7.5" aluminum shell assy with steel hub partnumber 917246 and delete the a/c pulley

That's what i'm doing too...i forgot to ask John at ATI if it made any difference if i ran a manual rack instead of power steering, but i don't THINK it should make any difference...therefore you'd want the same damper i'm getting ...but you might double check...
2000_SS, ignore my . I transposed the digits in your part number. I'm talking about 917264 and you are talking about 917246

I'm in if the deal is good. I need a dampner with a/c and the more durable (higher durometer rubber for street/strip use) Shoot me a pm so we can talk about what I need for my application. Or if anyone has an idea let me know. Build is a 408 lsx block build w/ tfs 6 bolts with a custom twin 72 kit. Keeping the a/c and either a 10% underdrive or stock diameter ati dampner. Either way I'm in. Thanks Chris

ati told me the part number for the ls1 f-body 10% underdriven with the A/C is 917276 and you listed it as 917576. i just want to make sure i have the right part number before i send the money.
i am leaving town right now until monday so i will have to wait until then to order it to ensure that i have the right part coming.

check ATI's chart on their site (i posted a link on the previous page) and you should be able to determine the part number. i was told the wrong one at first by ATI too, but the corrected it.

There is two part numbers for 10% with no A/C??? Whats the difference? Also, is it best to go without a underdrive and just do the stock size without A/C since I am only driving the alternator off the crank?
2000_SS
05-29-2009, 10:26 PM
This is what I was told by john a ati:
The easiest way I can answer that is as HP and RPM and weight of the crank increases the damper inertia weight needs to increase, so on a stock stroke motor of 3.48” and stock HP of , lets say 400HP I would run a 25% UD and take advantage of the weight savings and the drop in acc speeds. Now with a 4.25 stroke crank and 700HP the 25% UD damper is overworked and not the best choice for your engine now and the 10% UD can be used as the smallest damper I would put on the engine and you still can have the drop in weight and the slower acc drive but on high HP cars or any street driven car or road racer I always like to put the oem size 7.5” damper because you can never over dampen an engine but you can under dampen it.

part# 917243 has an aluminum hub. I would call ati, their tech guys are great.
They told me to go with the steel hub for all around street, roadcourse and occasional drag use.

Good advice on both points. I told a customer the exact same thing about the aluminum hub vs steel. ATI will also tell you for street use to go with the 10% and not the 25%

918853 is for blower setups, 917242 is the OEM diameter pulley with an A/C pulley, which is what i have minus the A/C pulley. the 918853 pulley would be, I THINK, for a cog drive procharger setup or something similar. email ATI with any questions you have for definitive answers, they're VERY thorough and informative

The ATI Serpentine Super Damper contains grooves for serpentine belts machined into the outer damper shell. The dampers come standard with 6 outer grooves for standard OEM drive systems. 8 & 10 grooves are availabe for supercharger or turbo applications.
this is messing with me. i thought the super damper would be fine the way it is? do i need more grooves with my 8 rib setup for my d1sc or will it be fine because it seems that i need more grooves for my supercharger setup and i keep seeing this in the part description for this damper?

I could be wrong but i think its pertaining to systems that run with the rest of the accersories that might be upgraded to 8 rib ie.magnacharger, kenne bell, etc. Systems that dont have a designated drive belt
The pulley will be fine the way it is if you are running a procharger style setup. Just bolt your blower crank pulley to it and go. Hope that helps
