Hey whats up guys i've got a question for ya

Now... i'm a soon to be senior in high school and summer is almost here. I'm supposed to be getting in some sort of car this summer and here are my options....

1994-1996 impala ss
1993-1997 Trans am/Camaro Z28 or ss doesn't matter to me..
1994-1997 mustang cobra

I really want the impala because of the space but mod wise??...... i ain't so sure because it probably won't be that fast because of the weight... and i also really want something with manual even though you can get swap kits for the impala i don't think it would be worth it i would probably just get some sort of stall and get 4.10's or 3.73's and be done with it..... But i am definently still open to a 6spd camaro/trans am but everybody keeps telling me to get the cobra....

So which one do you guys think would be the best for me??

O the car will be daily driven.

Help will be much appreciated thanks guys.

93-97 SS
96-97 Cobra
94-95 Cobra
93-97 T/A
94-96 Impala

That's the order I'd put them in.

However, try to find a 99 Z28 w/ a 6spd and call it a day.

Yea i forgot to mention a LS1 Z28 thats a HUGE possibility

Why the impala ss last?

who knows, personally I'd put the cobra at the bottom of the list and a LT1 z28 above a LT1 T/A.

The only Camaro SS's between 93-97 came in 96 and 97 because that is when they were reintroduced. I would get something newer than '95.

I put the Impala last, because the other cars you listed were "quick" cars. The Impala is pretty slow and heavy, but it's still not a bad choice if you need the room.

A geared 96-98 Cobra with basic bolt-ons is no slouch.

The Impala SS looks cool and has lots of space, but it isn't going to be fast. Even with headers, tune, intake, gears, stall you are looking at low 14's, maybe a 13 second et. You also have to consider how expensive they are. Ones in nice shape with less than 100k miles are 10-12k where I live, something that's 6-8k is going to have the piss beat out of it.

If you really want that big body car, go look at a 94-96 Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham. They can be found in great shape for 4-8k, depending on the miles and color(black on black is always more expensive). If you like the styling, you can't beat it for the sheer size and pimp-mobile factor. Plus its trimmed out a lot nicer than an Impala SS.

If all you care about is speed, go for the LS1 fbody. Z28's are cheaper than a Trans Am/Formula or an SS. You can get nice ones for 7-10k.

This.

There is a catch to this though. IMO stock geared 6 Speed LS1 cars are boring to drive around in town. If you manage to get an LS1 m6 car and mostly drive in town, pick up a set of 3.90 or 4.10 gears. You'll still probably beat most cars around even being stock, but after DDing it for awhile it will feel slow with the stock gears.

The cobra is faster than those two if i'm correct so i don't know if i i'd put it the LT1 f-bods at the top of the list.

Yea now that i've asked around and talked to people that know stuff about cars and i've talked to some pretty cool knowledgeable people on here and not the ricers at school i'll probably go ahead and try to get a deal on a LS1 f-body but if i can't find one i'll be tempted to get the impala...

Yea i don't know about the putting the cobra at the bottom of the list because if i'm correct and i may be wrong the cobra's of that era are a little faster than the LT1 f-body's.

Its close enough to be a drivers race.

And heres a comparison to the Impala SS:

Go test drive a bunch of examples of the cars you want(to single out any lemons or abused ones) to decide from there.

O really??? That's why i always see a 1996 or 1997 for sale on autotrader and never an ss before that.

I never knew that thanks man

O okay i probably will end up with a mustang cobra or LS1 f-body anyways. but i'm still gonna consider the impala a bit because the space would be nice i guess it'd be fun to haul around girls in it.... but i need speed...

If you can swing the LS1, then go for it, but don't strap yourself while in school.

A LT1 is not a bad choice either, but you'll spend more time and money for repairs. Not that they are unreliable, but they are older and have glitches that a newer 98-02 won't have.

Thanks but no thanks lol.... There is no way that i'm getting a cadillac noooooooo those are way to big i need speed thats why i thought i'd go ahead and get a impala ss because there big and i thought they had some power but apperantley not so my perspective on those cars has completley changed. Although i'm still considering one i probably won't end up getting one.

I'm definently gonna go ahead and try to get an LS1 f-body first and if not without hesitation i'm gonna get a 94-97 cobra then definetly an impala ss

Thanks for your advice though man.

Thanks man this was probably the most helpful reply i've gotten so far. Wow okay i'm not gonna mess with the impala ss anymore i can't believe how pathetic that 1/4 mile time is for that car thats ruled out of my options...

But yea i'm gonna go ahead and look at the LT1 f-bodys also those are also a pretty good deal..... it seems......

And your right the cobra vs the LT1 f-body is a driver's race wow i didn't know they were that close.

Why is that trans am slower than the camaro? i thought they were the same cars on paper wtf??.

Yea just like i said i'm gonna go ahead and try getting an LS1 f-body first but if i can't find a deal then i'm gonna go ahead and try to get an LT1

Thanks for your input i'll probably need your help later lol.
