My now 18 year old son and I have been building this GTO for almost 2 years. It is a complete frame off with as many parts as possible scrounged from the local wrecking yards. We used homemade engine/tranny mounts, a LQ9 from a 2006 Escalade, and a T-56 from a 1999 Camaro. The front brakes are from a 2000 Camaro and the rear disks (on a 3:73 Chevelle 12 bolt) are from a 2001 Blazer. The engine wiring harness and 0411 computer are from an 01 truck, as are the front and rear harnesses. The Master cylinder is from a 2001 Camaro, Power booster is from a 1985 Monte Carlo SS. The leather seats are from a 1999 Caddie. Steering column and Passkey system are from a 1996 Camaro. This website (and several others) have been invaluable in this car's construction. I'll post pictures tomorrow.

Alright, I might can build a car, but I haven't been able to figure out how to post pictures on this thread!!! When I attempt to attach 3 - 5 pictures, I get an error message that the file size is too large. I read the FAQ's, but must have missed the answer to this problem. I remember seeing someone else with this problem recently, and an explanation of how to fix the issue. If anyone can help, I would greatly appreciate it!

If you have Photoshop or maybe even MSPaint (I'm assuming you're on a PC not a Mac) you can lower the filesize. There are probably some free programs online that can do this too.

If you have an Fquick or photobucket account, you can link the picture from their web page to the forum site using the 'Insert Link' option from the tool bar. I do it a lot here

Wow, now that's what hot rodding is all about! Taking the good parts of many cars and making them fit on one great one. I have a great appreciation of that versus buying everything aftermarket and bolting it on, but that's great too. I use a program from www.irfanview.com to view and resize pictures. It has many more capabilities too, and it's free! Once you download it, open your picture and go to the Image menu and choose "resize". You can also resize many pictures at once using the Batch processing tool. Takes a little bit ti learn how to use it, but it's not that difficult.

Here is the status of our 1966 GTO at Thanksgiving. We rolled it out of the garage to paint the front fenders.

I'm currently working on re-wiring the harness from a 2001 Silverado to that of a 2001 Camaro SS.



Passenger fender on (not buffed yet). The pile of wire under the pasenger door is the Haywire "cab" harness:



Eric is coming home from college in 10 days and we plan to get the car running and driving over the Christmas break. Hope everyone enjoys.

Thanks for the comment. I have also followed your GTO build.

I plan to begin wiring the cab this week as time permits. I am looking for a pre-cut plate (metal or plastic) for the dash to use in mounting my gages, so anyone that has an idea I would love to hear about it.
