Default Hydrolocked LS1

I hydrolocked my engine last weekend, and my insurance should cover it, but in the event they don't I'll likely have to pull a small loan to get it fixed. If I'm the one paying for it I'd like to get a little more than just a stock rebuild out of it. This would be a DD car, with light 1/4 racing and occasional road course. Any suggestions for a budget minded build? I'd like to be able to re-use as much as possible.

Oh yeah, It's an 02 LS1 powered Z28

go to salvage yard, find a 4.8 or 5.3 for less than 500$ and install in place of the hl ls1. will get your car back on the road.

First step will be to tear it down and see what is reusable. I've hydrolocked before and only broke one rod, everything else was fine. But i've seen some where almost everything is trashed.

That must have been a really big puddle to get water all the way up into your intake.

I've got a 408 short block for all ready to go. Normally $4274 but I'll let it go for $4075.
Not sure if thats in your budget or not, just throwing it out there.

do you have an SSRA/FTRA kit or something on it to scoop up the water and shoot it up to the lid area or what?

makes me a little worried to drive around in the rain with my Volant setup...

I've noticed lots of posts where people have hydrolocked their motors. What causes this? I never here of people doing this with other vehicles, makes me scared to drive mine in the rain since it's lowered! This is weird, hate to hear this OP. Hope you get it fixed up and on the road again soon
