Question How Do I Get My MPH Up?

in 10/2007 with my cam only car, slipping stock LS6 clutch i ran a 13.1 @113.

Today same car same set up only now i have a Tgextralia Z grip and i ran a 12.5 @ 116.... I was hoping to trap at 118..

I only gained 3mph How do i gain more MPH?

MPH is directly affected by 2 things: horsepower and raceweight. If you want more MPH you have to increase power or decrease weight. I would think 116-118 MPH is about right at your power level. What does your car weigh?

shifting hard and shifting fast are two completely different things. just cuz you pull or push the shift **** hard doesnt mean you are shifting fast.

but take some weight out of it, and was the DA?

7. Rolling resistance slicks vs. radials

8. Why the hell are we doing numbers???

9. Want to go faster, get some mods.... Like tires, 12.5 @ 116 is horrible... What was your 60'?

116 is a fine trap for a cam only, stock weight car.

You might want to drop some weight, and see what happens.. and give us your 60's..

I am running 125mph traps @ 418 rwhp... losing weight helps alot. I should actually be in the 127-128 range next time out, dropped another 200+ lbs last month....

well i was shifting at 6500, but i know our stock tach is slow. I crossed the traps at the VERY VERY VERY end of 3rd gear. As i crossed i hit the limiter and my needle was at 7k

so i think i need to shift before 7k????

I was more powershidting that speed shifting. I do not like to speed shift. You mis a gear and your banging the rev limiter and i do not like that..

No idea what the DA, i know it was positive though

Well if you shift 4th you wont be as high in the power band going across the finish unless you have gears. Was your cutout open? Are the wheels you have heavier than the ones last time you went to the track?

Honestly I think 116 is pretty good for a full weight car and average DA day.

That is why i did not shift. Yes my cut out was open. When i ran my 13.1 @ 113 it was with stock 5 star chrome 16x8 rims khumo tires (245/50/16). The rims that i ran with yesterday are TTMs 17x10.5 with Nitto Extremes (315/35/17)

So i dunno what the weights are, but i would say the TTMs are hevier for sure

put some slicks on it if you want to hook. Disconnect the front sway bar at the track will help a bit as will removing dead weight like jacks and spare tires.

you won't get your mph up unless something like pressure, temp change. Ain't got much control over mph except not letting off.
