Default Bumper Support Questions

Are they really needed? My car is a weekend/summer car. Also where are they located?

I want to drop some weight and get my mph up.

Thanks

yea seen you at SCC yesterday, you spun all of 1st gear. Id get a rearend in that thing so you can get your 60's down then to worrk bout weight reduction.

We took out my buddies bumper support in his '02 TA, shitty thing is you loose the fog lights unless you make some sort of bracket to re mount um. And it didnt weight all that much so personially id leave it in and keep the fog lights!!

And the thing that scares me about the rear is if someone rearends you there is nothing and I mean nothing back there to stop the destruction. For the few pounds it gets rid of it is not worth it for any kind of street use.

i actually got rearended by a mid 80's f250 going about 30mph and i have no rear bumper support...

Didn't break NOTHING, didn't even crack my bumper cover or tail light covers. All it did was push in the trunk metal. Body shop pulled it back out to reshape it and i was good to go. SO either i was really lucky or bumper supports done matter, lol. It was basically worst case scenario especially with it being a f250 sled.

I agree. There is a point that you cross to where you are cutting up your nice/fast street car. I feel that bumper supports is one of those lines. I have been in your shoes and thought about doing it myself. Once I do that I might as well tub it add a wheelie bar and chute and be done with it.

Get the car to hook first, and get a rear in it so the car won't be unreliable... the weight you can save with the bumper supports isn't worth it IMO for a street car.

I guess i could pull my rear seats out. It is 2 10mm bolts and the buckets come out, i have no idea how to get the back portion out though

And the front seat is easy too 4 12mm or 13mm and out that comes too

So is mine but that really doesn't mean anything. You can get punted by anyone at any point in time.

How much does the front bumper supports weigh. I was thinking about taking it off of my car, if it's worth it.

I pull my bumper support out with the brace, it weights 21.5 lbs. Ive noticed that there are different weights on the foam, They must have different density,The foam on my TA was black in color and Ive seen them I'm dark gray and light gray. Maybe different colors weigh different, Like i said, maybe.
