Default Car left in parking lot wont start

I had to leave my car in a parking lot because it wont turn over. The battery is fine and the radio, lights, etc work. Security light is not activated and I tryed depressing the clutch pedal sensor by hand and still wouldnt start. The starter is not clicking and attempts at push starting failed. What can it be?

Sure it's not the battery? You can have enough voltage for lights, radio etc. and not enough to turn the car over. I'd see what the voltage is across the terminals first.

We checked the battery and the voltage was 12v but we're not sure that the negative is grounding properly..the starter doesnt click at all

What happens to the lights when to try to start it? Do they turn off?

Your battery can still put out 12 volts but wont have enough amps to push the starter. Also since you stated that it will not pop start, it leads me away from thinking its the starter.

Its still sitting there i've tried what I could, without having it in the garage so I guess ill have to rent a trailer and bring it it home to work on.The guy that helped me also thinks its wiring/electrical related. The starter never gave me even the slighest problem ever since ive owned the vehicle

Have you checked for corrosion build-up on the batt terminals as well as at the starter?

There isnt any corrosion on the terminals and not to much on the wires. Plus we swapped the battery ,still no luck

I switched the ign and starter relay with the fan relays and still nothing...

The starter does not click and push starting only starts the car for about a 2-3 seconds before it dies again..all the fuses are ok and all connections as far as I can tell are tight.I'm out of ideas.

So you have two problems.

A starter issue

It won't stay on after its running

Sounds like a security system issue, no? Any codes? Could be a PCM problem.

It does sound like a security issue. I just cant understand what could happen to it and how I can test it? The security light doesnt stay on or anything and ive also tried using my spare key. I will pull off the cover on the steering wheel and look for bad wires or just do a vats bypass

My car did the exact same thing today, but it did finally start. Maybe it's a loose starter wire or clutch peddle switch sticking or bad. Have you ever removed starter and wires off car (loose wire).

Ignition switch related maybe (vatts?). Read Here:

Thank you for the links gollum. I was thinking about trying the vats bypass yesterday and I will go ahead and make sure to give it a shot before I pull out the starter.

I have no idea.

Your key may be too worn. Try a new key
