Alpine or Kicker amp?
I am working on installing two alpine 10 inch, 4 ohm woofers in my silverado.I recently had an older alpine 3555 which I used to push them, but had a small mishap and touched two speaker wires together. This all happened before I got it all really put together. The amp smoked badly until disconnected. It's only rated at 50 rms x 4, and I had it bridged down to two channels thus giving me 100 rms to each speaker.Honestly it hit hard enough for my taste with the gains set at around 5/8 to 3/4 of the way up.A friemd of mine who knows circuit boards is looking at it for me, but I feel there may be no hope.So I am shopping around for a replacement.
I've been looking at the kicker KX 600.1 which is rated at 600 rms into 2 ohms,
or
kicker KX 400.1 rated at 400 RMS into 2 ohms
and finally
the alpine mrd-m500 rated at 500 RMS into 2 ohms
You can get the kx 600 for around $250.00 and the kx 400 for $200.00, and the mrd for $280.00 all on ebay.
I don't need rattle the car next to me bass, but I like to feel the music, and hit hard.I little extra power on hand wouldn't hurt, thus not needing to crank up the gain.
Any other suggestions would be considered, but you can see the price range I would like to stay in.Cheaper the better as long as it's good quality.
Which amp has the better quality, sound, reliability?
Thanks
Jay

Kicker it is then. Now need to decide on the 600.1 or 400.1? Since 100 watts rms to each woofer was enough when testing, the 400.1 should be more then enough for me.
They are pretty resonable still on ebay.
Thanks

Pay the extra $50 for a couple hundred extra watts. You may not need/want it now, but if you ever do........or if you ever want to upgrade the subs. Also, check out the JBL BP1200.1 I know. I know. Way too much power, but you can keep the gain on min. And hey, if it's the same price as the kx600.1 why not get double the power? And the BP1200.1 really does output rated power, actually a little more. A TON of people use it, so no need to take my word for it. Just ask around.

Check on a fosgate amp the 500s or 750s are nice amps, they also have the remote bass boost, are relatively cheap on ebay, i would recommend fosagtes over kicker, or if you really want some decent sound check into some smaller companys that are more quality driven than quantity driven.
