Default 3200 stall on stock tranny?

Well I was thinking about getting a level 1 built transmission with a 3200ish stall but it ended up being extremely expensive, does anyone have any input on stalling the stock 4L60E? I'm not dishing out a ton of power, but I know these things aren't built strong, and I'm about to head off to college. My mods (by the time of putting a stall in) would be LT's, ORY, LS6 intake, P&P TB, 17x9s with NT555s, dyno'd and tuned, and B&M transmission cooler (or other). What's the word?! Thanks.

From what i know a stock 4L60e are rated up to 360 hp. You should be around that hp rating but as far as a stall on a stock tranny i would say not to do it if your really going to run it a lot. I think you shouldnt even do it at all. My friend did the same thing to his f body and only had Ls6 heads Lt's and a 3800 stall and blew up his tranny. Lasted only a month or two. But he likes to tourcher his cars. Maybe a 2500 stall or something... What does everybody else think???

tons of people put big stalls on the stock trans, yes it will hurt the longevity of your trans, but with a cooler and everything it should still last quite a while? but what do i know, i grenaded my stocker lol

OK, well those of you who did kill the tranny, what did it take? And I need this transmission to last two or three years with minimal driving (except for a 1k mile road trip to Colorado, I will be living there so climate should be considered too)

3500 stall on a stock tranny under boost. Took four years to kill my OD and 3rd gear on a top end pull.

Run a bigass tranny cooler. However, I'd recommend getting the tranny built anyways. When it goes, it throws **** into your system and you stall will need rebuilt as well as the cooler replaced.

Boost, as in FI? Or boost as in really high line pressure? I do drag race every 2 or 3 weeks, will stop when college starts, I drive hard sometimes on the street, never into third though. I may be the only 18 year old who does do over 100MPH on the street. So I don't USUALLY hit third under WOT unless on the track. What would be considered a BIG cooler?

mine had a vig 3200 and a B&M tranny cooler with a transgo shitkit and lasted about 10-15k miles alot was highway driving though about two-two and a half years. then got rebuilt and put the stocker back in because I missed my top end. Now have NOS shot and rebuilt with stronger internals waiting to send out my converter to make sure all is well.

i had my cam and vig 3200 stall done at the same time on my stock tranny. it held up good until i ended up getting a built tranny.

honestly, if i were you, i would wait to save up enough money to get a good tranny built and get a converter the same time.

just dont cheat yourself and get a cheap *** converter or tranny.

Right now, I have about 63k on the car, but lately the transmission has been shifting really hard under part throttle, I think it is a tuning issue though. Once I go WOT through a shift, the line pressure stays way up and slams gears. I'm waiting for one of these transmission shops to chime in with some advice, lol they are usually the ones who know whats up.

I have a yank 4000 in my stock trans right now. Its been in there about 4 month with about 20 to 30 passes at the track and lots road time (even a 8hour road trip one way) and have yet to have any major problem besides a code going off and making the car go into limp mode.

I am however just waiting for it to go out since I'm installing my heads and cam but maybe she will hold out alittle longer.

OK, well the plan is I am going to get a 3200 TC, delete TM, get a beefy cooler and hook it up so it goes trans>stock cooler>new cooler>trans, does that seem OK? I am also getting a trans temp gauge (what is a good operating temp? I know heat is the big killer and where is a good place to mount the sensor? I'm getting a mechanical gauge and I know I can either mount it in the cooler lines or the pressure test port.) Sound safe?

i mounted my temp sending unit in the pan, just have a bung welded in. That gives you a good average temp reading. Also, my 3200 and factory trans has held up well. It actually holds its own very well against equally modded 6 speeds.

i like to show this race bc it proves a big point. Even small converters can be a very nice combo with the right driver. I caught him sleeping at the line but i was the under-dog for this race. I had 3200 stall, full exhaust, tr224, Nitto DRs, factory susp and SS wheels, full weight (even spare and jack). He is 240 cam, TSP heads, Fast 90/90, major weight reduction (no ac, no bumper supports, no interior etc) and lots of suspension, Ford 9inch with gears and full slicks and skinnies. I was extremely out matched but i faired pretty well.

Wow. I must be a lucky one.
I put in a fuddle 3000 stall w/a 2.0 str at 20,000 miles [ stock trannyw/2.73 gears]
That was my first mod.
Everything in my sig has been added during the last 46,000 miles and still on that same factory tranny.
Last time to the track I hit a 12.01 at 115mph, 1.76 60' on the 75 shot with bolt on's.
Just finished putting the hotcam in. I will let you know how the tranny likes it.
