Engine misfire,Crankcase smoke, now water in oil !
I recently have had some serious problems out of my cammed ls1 after spraying a 100 shot. It started missing first, then i pulled the plugs to see what they looked like and they looked fine, hooked a snap-on scanner up and its missing on cylinders 5 & 7 blowing smoke out the crank case. Its my only way to go so i drove it checking the oil as i went and it started to overheat today so i pulled it over and checked the oil and its milky with water . Could it be a Head Gasket or what ? my mind is rolling any help would be appreciated. Thanks

I would have to say that it would be a head gasket. Check the coolant and see if it is low and if you have access to a pressure gauge put it in place of the rad cap and see the system is becoming over pressurized. Also smell the exhaust and see if it smells sweet, if so then you def have a bad head gasket, sounds like on the passenger side.

100 shot, just installed gaskets about 3 months ago when installed cam and new valvetrain. So you guys think its a head gasket and not a piston ring ? I sure as hell hope that is the case. How can you tell by looking at the metal gaskets ? What should i look for ?

Did you torque them down to specs? Im spraying a 125 on a stock engine no problems at all. Was spraying a 200shot on my truck Ls swap before i went turbo on it. Its sounds def like you blew a headgasket. Goodluck and make sure you torque them all to specs on the headbolts.

yeah im going to go with arp headbolts this time around...........we torqued them like the book said to do in sequence 3 passes. Do you know what the torque specs are on arp headbolts ? I hear you dont do them in degrees you do them in ft lbs like a standard chevy motor. What will tell me if have a busted piston ring if i have one , Will i be able to tell by looking inside the cylinders ?
