Default Moroso oil pan, thoughts?

I am considering using the moroso oil pan. I know the LS1 pans are a structural piece, any concerns with using this pan? This is going on a 450whp Race car so i want it to be solid!

i picked up a Canton pan for my LSX...hopefully it won't make any negative differences. i've always heard they were structurally relevant, but never really heard why or just how much.

LS oil pans are not structurally important to the integrity of the block. They are made of cast aluminum for the sole purpose of dampening NVH ( Noise Vibration Harshness ). If GM were still building the old SBC for new vehicles, they too would have a cast oil pan. Plenty of LS race engines have put out insane power and lived long lives with after market sheet metal pans.

That runs counter to everything I have ever read, from GM sources and published books about the LS motor.

That the LS oil pans were designed to be a structural part of the block.

I certainly don't claim to be an expert but have read that in several publications.

That was my understanding as well. Just did some research, & that does appear to be the case - see

this link (gmperformanceparts.com),

this link (Hot Rod mag),

and this link (GMHTP mag).

Looks like it's something that we should pay attention to, I guess.
