Exclamation HELP!!! hydraulic line disconnect tool needed!!!

I need the disconnect too for the hydraulic line that goes to the slave cyl. I will rent, borrow, or buy if necessary but I really only need to use it once to finish the install of my ls2! any help would be great... I live near Jersey Village, right down the street from the horse track in Houston. If anyone happens to have o2 sims I need those as well.

THANKS!!!

If I was in town I would help as im at 290 and Eldridge.

You might be able to rent the tool at one of the local part stores, I would check there. However I got my old stuff disconnected with a screw driver to push in the plastic sleeve.

what I do everytime Is use 2 flat tip screwdrivers and push the white releasing ring into the housing. push even and hard and make sure you dont get it into a bind, because it is not a solid ring, once you get it in far enough just pull a little and it should pop off.
Hope this helps.

FYI: if you are not sure of how the connection works, the hydraulic line is like a fuel line connection, there are some retaining rings inside the housing that have to be depressed to release the hose.

I used two flat head screwdrivers, mine was a complete bitch but that was probably because I had never done it before. Follow RARON455 instructions and you'll be good to go.

Thats funny I just use my fingers, just push in and hold the ring and pull the hose out.

Lightbulb so...

As it turns out, the plastic ring that everyone has told me to just push in with screwedrivers etc is missing... I assume that piece was damaged or removed before I got the car so that kind of blows. It looks like I am just going to carefully cut the female end of the fitting off altogether and poke the remaining male end into the slave fitting on the side of the trans

here are pics, if anyone has any suggestions, please keep em coming... I have had a lot of help from this board and am very appreciative of that.

THANKS!!!

Found these work great and you get 6 in a pack with a few different sizes

"HELP!" Products # 74016 Brake clutch bushings.

Was able to get them at Autozone, with a few days wait for special order. I would think anyone who sells the HELP line would be able to help you out.

I looked for the OEM ring, can not get just the ring, need to buy the full line.

If that plastic piece is missing you're gonna need one. But if you've got one, a pair of needle nose pliers works for me every time.

Thumbs up I win

So i ended up just using a dremel with a cutoff wheel to hack that lil f*cker off and I drove the car around the block yesterday. I discovered a few things; I need to rebleed the clutch, I have 2 coolant leaks at the crossover and the plug at the back of the head, and the hood's pissant mounting brackets were attached to the hood with a no-longer-present epoxy and will require more effort than I thought to line up.

BUT

Thank you to everyone who contributed, this forum is and has been the ****!!!

Wish I had seen this thread. You don't actually need the stock ring but need some sort of bushing to push in to release the connection. I found a few years ago after using various tools and bushings that those "Help" brake bushings work perfect.
