Today i decided to hit the track again to get more seat time with my car. And it paid off. From my last thread; http://www.ls1tech.com/forums/12-second-club/1122679-i-hit-12s-today-my-cam-street-tires.html , well today i did better.

My car was set up the same form my last time out at the track. Except this time i took out my spare tire/jack and passanger seat.. But my shifting and 60' is waht got me my faster time.....

my previous best was a 12.52 @ 116..... All my other info can be found in the above link

Today in 77* (DA was +2385') weather i hit my new PB time :D I made 3 runs. Run #1 was 12.53 @ 113.34, Run #2 PB (see below) and Run #3 was 12.40 @ 115.75

60' - 1.953
330' - 5.303
1/8 ET - 8.029
1/8 mph - 89..94
1000' - 10.357
1/4 - 12.302
1/4 mph - 115.56

I want to say thanks to chrs1313 (Chris) and 98BblueSScamaro (Rob) who are helping me out. They have been giving me pointers and tips.

I am just very happy that i got my 1.95 60' on my heavy TTMs (17x10.5) rims with my Nitto Extreme Street Tires. It does show if you practice it will pay off. I now know where to launch and where to shift..

Now with some cold air i should be in the 11's... That is according to the DA calc.. That run would have been an 11.95 @ 118.96

So i think i am done racing now with summer here. I am goign to wait till fall for some cold weather. Then hopefully i will be posting on the 11s forum :D :D

Congrats thats pretty good. I think its pretty dangerous to be running street tires at the drags with cars that make this kind of power. I ran my car at the track and almost totaled it, I shifted into 3rd and instantly spun out, nothing like driving backwards at 90mph. My car did hit the wall and I am not going back to the track until I have atleast drag radials. Just becareful with street tires.

So what is your launch technique? Oh ya pray for your 10 bolt.

sounds like u hit some oil or a slick spot on the top end of the track? ive gone 11.89@ 118+ on street tires, never had a problem after a decent launch. i only make 335hp/353tq to the wheels though lol
ive sprayed the 100 shot on the street before on street tires, had a lil wheelhop in 2nd gear but dead hooked after that i put down 430/499 to the wheels on it

keep up the good work TORCHD!

I still wish i could get my 60' down a bit more.. Maybe with more seat time. But there is no sense in running anymore with summer around the corner. But who knows we will see. Practice makes perfect... Maybe I will jsut wait for the cooler weather in the fall to come...

All in all i am not doing too bad for street tires.

As for my launch goes... I am holding the Rs at 3K, and i am slipping the clutch out.. I am feeling how hard my clutch is grabbing and i match it with the gas.. When i feel the strong point where the clutch is grabbing that is when i hit it to go WOT.. I never spun at the line.

i am adding videos to post #1

I dont know how you guys do it. Our track is at 2000' elevation and my best 60' is a 2.4. I spin all the way through 1st, 2nd, and 3rd "usually" bites. On the street I hook up great, even in the rain I get more traction than at the track. Our track just recieved a new concrete launch to the 1/8th mile this year though, so it is very slick. I just don't understand how I can hook so great on the street and not at all on the track.

It could be the 275/40/17's I run, it seems even though they are a wider tire than the 16's that most people run they are a lot worse at the track. The 16's have a little more sidewall which must be more important than the width. Oh and Torch those are very good times for your setup. 98TADriver how are you running 118mph with stock internal??
