Karma got me. . . .
So I'm driving back to S.A. from Houston tonight and cruising at 67, trying to get good mileage. I see a white 350 with crazy gfx and dark hood (expected it was CF) coming up hard in my mirror. . . I ignored him and he flew by about 90ish. Now, I-10 was pretty wide open and I preach to not race on the highway, so I didn't. Anyway, about 15 minutes later I see a car on the side of the road and sure enough, it's the 350 with steam coming out from under the open hood. As I pass by, I pushed in on the clutch and revved. . . . . . . . . . I think this is the part where Karma decided I was due!
About another 10 minutes later, I heard what sounded like a lot of trash bags swishing on the passenger side and the car started pulling that way. It grew louder rather quickly and I decided it was worth investigating, FAST!!! Luckily there was an off-ramp and I hauled the car to SLOW-SLOW quick-like and sure enough, shredded tire. Not blown, just severely separated rubber. Waited 2 hours for my friend to show up with my regular tires and tools to do the swap. Karma left it at that. . . . so I thought. At least the Nissan guys didn't fly by and buzz me. Anyway, getting gas shortly after tire-swapping, credit card laughed at me (only at the pump-worked fine inside???) and the wind kicked up just as I pulled the nozzle out of the tank... sprayed gas on my pants and shoes I'm doing job interviews in tomorrow. . . Done ranting now, time to study for my interviews I have to leave for at 4:30AM to go back to Houston. . . . . .

Man - I'm sorry - but I had to smile while reading your post.....'cause I've done some **** like that in the past, didn't feel good about it when-ever I did it, and sure enough, it came back to haunt me later on. At least that tire didn't blow and take out a fender - or something even worse!

Look at the positive. I was laid off 5 days before Christmas. It sucked, but i got to spend the holidays with my family, and now I have a better job, closer to home.
BTW what kind of work are you looking for? FWIW, use every chance you get to market yourself.
Good luck in the job hunt, and I'm glad you didn't race the Z-car.

To answer your Q, I was in the Navy for 20 in the Nuclear Power program and did QA, ALL aspects of maintenance, operations and repair then moved on to supply and supervision of the previous..... Closed it off with sales and recruiting. Only thing I didn't do was make the ocean to float the ships on (but I did distill the water). Seriously!

EPC? US Navy.
Followon Karma-info. I had scheduled 1 job interview for yesterday and requested a specific interview along with the 1st. I got the request approved and did 2 interviews yesterday morning in Houston. Both interviews went well and both companies should be contacting me in the next few days for follow-on interviews and I anticipate both will offer me their respective jobs. YEAH! Duff might not be unemployed this time next week!
On another note, I got just over 2 hours sleep last night - all-nighter swapping a camshaft finally!

Duff, congrats on the job search progress. That pic looks a bit like my last Wednesday night... if you also took a hammer and pickaxe to the front fender.
Lucky for you the separating tread did not bash your front fender and liner to smithereens. I have pics, but had to leave for the shootout and they are still in the camera. No time to download them and post before I had to load the car up and head out to KC.
If you go to the LTX Shootout pics that people are posting, you'll notice a primer black front fender on the Blue Beast.

I didn't get quite to that point Duffster, but after I did a 60 - 1xx mph run with a buddy, I noticed the right front felt weird, like I was running over a rock constantly. I pull over, and it looks like a baseball got stuck in my 165 tire, but it was the tire coming apart. I swear it wasn't there before that 60-1xx run

Being stupid and doing 100+ on a feeder about 4 years ago and had someone pull out infront of me and had to hit the brakes. Front end came down so hard it ripped the radial completely off. Just being immature.
