Default pulled my g5x3 cam out to finf its not what was installed by shop

I pulled my cam and I was told it was a g5x3 and it was not. I sent the cam out to comp and here is what I have.

287/293 advertised duration with 236/242 @.050
lift is 589/612
113 lsa with a 4 degree advance
Can any one tell me if this is a common cam ie thumpr, t-rex etc??

First off, what are the g5x3 specs? Next, who did the install and why wouldn't they install what was promised?

before i throw the guy under the bus (Mikey), I bought the car from a good friend he had Mikey at Rapid motorsports install/tune the car and my friend swears it was a g5x3 he gave to Mikey to install. I have left messages and PM for mikey and have heard nothing back. I did not own the car when Mikey installed the cam so I want to make that clear.

The g5x3 is not those specs they are 600/610 lift and duration is not listed on there web site 2xx 2xx

P.S. I had a lifter go bad thats why I pulled the cam, lifter ruined the cam lobe

Well, if you simply going off the lift being different, 600 vs 589 isn't too big of a difference and 610 is very close to 612.

I bought a new TR224 and the cam doctor sheet that came with the cam listed the duration as 224.8i/225.1e and the website listed lift is .564/.564 but mine was .569/.568. So it's close, but not exact.

I'd try hitting up LG with some info and see what they say. I'm sure there's some kind of number on the cam that they can reference.

The G5X3 uses Comp Cam lobes 3727r intake and 3731r exhaust. That's advertised by Comp as a 234 duration intake with .600" lift, and 242 duration exhaust with .610" lift. Those numbers are usually wrong. A friend got a cam doctor report done on his before install and it came in at 236 intake and 243 exhaust. Lift was .598" intake and .612" exhaust.

You probably have a G5X3 cam there...

comp will mark the cam with an etching if it is comp that ground it. check that etching and see what it says. its on the rear of the cam. kinda hard to see unless you tilt it just right.

usually you will find lobe numbers or something that will look like this 54-000-11 that means (iirc) LS cam core, roller design, the 000 means custom, but sometimes they have lobe numbers on there as well....

My G5-X2 is listed as 232/240 .595/.608. I've always heard the X3 is 234/242 .600/.610. So... I think you have an X3.

LG commonly grinds off any stamped Comp markings on the end of the cam, and etches in their own designation...ie: "X3 112".

The end of my G5X4 looks like this...if you look close, you can see what's left of the Comp lobe # stamped at the bottom...most of it was ground away though.
