For the buck, that seems like the best route. Im wanting to build it myself from an lq4 and piece together the 408 stroker. but even used it comes close to the same price, plus i need somebody to machine the block.

i know you are on a budget, but if the numbers are close, it may not hurt just to wait a little longer, save a few more dollars, and buy a brand new short block. but if its a big amount of change or youve alrady bought the parts, then make sure you find a reputable shop to do your work. do it once by doing it right. and no matter what, good luck with the build man! what are your goals?

IT was the best bank for the buck. I'm a numbers guy for a living. I priced it all out and John set me up at TS. I'll say the biggest difference in perf is the instant TQ and boom I'm at the rev limiter. I'm still getting bugs worked out of it. A4 is giving me trouble and I'd rather have a M6 for this setup. Beware of additional costs. Tunning is CRITICAL!!! Still working on that too. My 00 TA was bone stock so I had to buy everything and dropped 9k and counting. Just remember the weakest link rear and trans if an a4. Stick to your goals, mine was 95% street with normal driving and 2-3 track visits a year with maybe 6k miles a year.
