Default Charger SRT8 or new Camaro

Ok I'm in a pickle and don't know what to do. I got my trans am for super cheap because it was in a accident and I fixed it up. Ill be traveling between Waco and San Antonio once to twice a week and i don't feel that the T/a is that reliable or safe. so i'm stuck on what to do. im only 18 so my parents have the final say on what I get. Ive been working since i was 15 and have saved up enough money to pay for 3/4 of either car and my dad offered to pay the rest ( He hates the T/A) I'm of course leaning towards the Camaro but the only problem is that I cant find one. I leave in four weeks and need the car by then. Will the camaros be in regular production by then( could i find one with no crazy markup)? or should i go with the Charger?

And does anyone know where i can find a Camaro in San Antonio to show to my folks. do any dealers have one?

Sorry for the long read

Thx,
Mike

If its a ss get the camaro. If not get the srt8. 2 way differnt cars. The ss will be faster and way cooler. I hope you can find one.

you said charger, but you might mean challenger. I've driven the challenger and camaro.....the dodge was incredibly heavy, could not handle, andhas a worse interior than the 4th gen f body, if thats possible. if your looking at the camaro, make sure you don't pay more than sticker....cause dealers are tryin. assuming you can find one at sticker...

gotcha. man, the camaro is just leaps and bounds ahead in my opinion. the really only downside to it, is it could be a bit lighter. But, considering all of the handling improvements, interior improvements, weight distribution qualities, and the performance possibilities, theres not much else that compares. seriously., what amazed me so much about this camaro, was how quiet and noiseless, and just solid feeling the cabin is....it's like sitting in a CL 65 benz or something.

Charger SRT8 gets my vote but then again i think the new Camaro's look awful.

The SRT8 model seats are still one of the most comfortable and nicest seats that i have ever sat on.

any SRT interior is going to be far superior to any Mustang or Camaros interior, hands down.

to be honest with you, i would get a Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8.

they are all wheel drive, look sexy as hell, interior is **** and they run mid 13s in stock form <--- that is pretty much the ONLY SRT8 vehicle i would get.

"...At the track the Grand Cherokee SRT8, which rides on massive 255/45ZR20 front and 285/40ZR20 rear Goodyear Eagle RS-A run-flats, laid down some serious numbers: 5.2 seconds to 60 mph, 13.5 seconds in the quarter-mile. That makes this a 4,800-pound SUV that easily smokes a new Mustang GT, Pontiac GTO and, its most direct competitor, the Chevy TrailBlazer SS. And, you may want to sit down for this if you're a Porschephile, it's even quicker than the $90,000 Porsche Cayenne Turbo (0-60 in 5.9, quarter in 14.3).

And you don't need the skills of Big Daddy Don Garlits to duplicate those numbers, either. With all-wheel drive, tweaked for this high-power application, the GC just digs in and takes off. Even with the traction control switched off, the result is the same — major urge without wasted time spinning tires. The run up the acceleration curve is virtually seamless, it pulls hard with the smart automatic furnishing rapid, seamless gear changes. Although you can shift it for yourself (it is AutoStick, after all), you probably won't bother because the tranny does fine left alone
..."

you can find 05's and 06's @ $25-28K. a steal for the performance from an SUV.

you get one of those you'll have instant "baller status" with your teeny bopping friends, HAHA !!!!

here's an 07 with only 19K miles for $34,999. a bit overpriced but i'm sure your dad can go in there and wheel and deal with'em

I have an SRT8 charger, and I think its an great car. I think all you guys claiming weight and power benefits of the camaro should check your facts. The cars are almost identical in weight, hp, and factory 1/4 mile times.

Camaro. I am not a fan of the Charger (or any Chrysler vehicle for that matter). Don't settle for less than what you want. You will regret it. I sure didn't want a sedan when I was 18. I wanted a pony car (or a Vette). Stick with pony cars even if that means getting a Mustang GT. You'll be much happier in the long run. But that's just my opinion.

I have a Charger SRT8 (I upgraded from an R/T so don't let the screen name fool you) and I love it! You can get a clean used SRT for low 20's. I would do that and have money left over to mod it!

check the new car and driver article where they test the mustang, camaro ss, and the srt8 charger. the camaro finished on top and the charger finished last.

Definitely Camaro. How can you even ask??? The new Charger looks like ***.
A car that was originally a coupe, butchered into a modern sedan.
I personally would also take a Mustang over the Charger.

If you can't find yourself a Camaro then buy a nice used Z06 C6 that still has warranty. I know that you want the Camaro but that 427 will make you feel better. Also good job on saving up your money to buy your dream car. You will appreciate the car a lot more and take care of it better since you will be paying for most of it. Do not settle for something that you don't really want. If anything drive your Trans Am until you can get what you want.
