Default Oops! I broke something

Well I broke my ECT sensor... (the one above spark plug #1). The pins are still straight and there, but the plastic coasing that the output sensor clip fits into broke. I can put the slip over the 2 pins, and it seems to stay straight, but i plan on going to the drag strip Thursday night and im worried it might **** something. I have solid motor mounts so its not like the motor is going to rock it off, i just wanted to know:
1) how expensive they are
2) should i get one from the chevy dealership or autozone
3) is there anything i should worry about??

thanks

Did the same thing when I was installing my headers/motor mounts/exhaust. Smacked it with the old manifold or something.

Anyway mine was the more expensive and harder to find '98 one and I still picked it up at NAPA for like $20 I think. Pretty sure the other one (the one you need) was cheaper though.

put it back in and throw some duct tape around it (maybe 3/4" wide strips) and then a heavy duty zip tie really really tight. It'll work for a while.

I did the same thing and went on the power tour with it taped on. Over 1800 miles with no issues. At the time I just didn't have the time to worry about it and the car ran fine. Now if it gets disconnected, it will make the car go wacky because a lot of the settings are engine coolant temp dependant like spark and fueling.

since you know it's fragile (not as fragile as the oil pressure sending unit) be careful on the install too
