Default LT's, custom Y-pipe...One cat or Two?

Hey everyone. Just as a quick fill in... Car is an 86 TA with a 99 head/cam/intake LS1.

Im running long tubes, off-road y-pipe, cut out, and magnaflow catback right now. Ide like to incorporate cats into the system. One...to help cut back on rasp. Two...to cut down on exhaust odor. And Three...to have one less reason to get hassled at the inspection station.

My question is... would it be better for me to run two 2.5" cats before the merge, or one 3" cat before the cut out? Also, what style cat would be best... The ceramic style or the metal matrix style?

Here is my y-pipe. Its tight...but I think I can fit random tech cats in there.

Im not even sure I could fit the one 3" cat before the cut out anyway. So I might be stuck with trying to fit the two smaller ones in.

Any thoughts/opinions/input?

Thanks!

Justin
