Default Those with Red Top Optima Batteries, Come In!

Hi,
I have a 98' LS1 Trans Am and I just purchased a Red Top Optima Battery from Sam's Club, well this thing does not fit very good, I had to really push hard to get it into place and it is pushing up against the radiator...can those of you who have the battery and had no fitment issues please look at the part number on top of the battery for me and let me know what it is so I can compare it to mine. Thanks!

I believe the 4th gen takes a 75 series battery. All 75 series batteries should be roughly the same size.

I have a red top and it fit right in.

My 75/35 fit with no issues...I have a 74/38 in there now that IS a tight fit, but it is a much larger battery than the 75/35.

you might have gotten a 78. they look about the same but the 78 is wider. 75 is the right one

Well I went out and looked at mine, and it says the Model # is SC34U

Other stats are Cranking Amps: 1000
Cold Cranking Amps: 800
RC:100

So it appears that I have the wrong one then?

I'll see if they will let me, if they don't, I guess "technically" it fits but I would like one that isn't resting against the radiator...

I was at work when my battery died, so I asked my dad to pick it up.

You bought it at Sams? They should have checked thier book to see that it fit. Why else would your dad have bought the one he did? Stick to your guns. Sams' is typically good on returns.

If it was JUST bought and you have the receipt, why wouldn't they do it since it was the wrong size? That's just an honest mistake... I don't see why they wouldn't do it.

Default Same Battery too!

I got that same battery too. It is a little snug but it does fit. Before I bought it the guy at my Sam's Club checked his catalog to see if it would fit. He said it was the wrong group size. He told me to take it and if it did not fit I could just return it.

I could not pass it up. $125.00 battery with a $25 rebate.
