Default Retro Fit Oil Pan

Want to drop an LS Series engine into your old car? I’m contemplating going into production on an oil pan that will allow the LS Series engines to fit ’67-’90 Camaro, ’62-’75 Nova, ’64-’78 Chevelle, and all B-Body, G-Body, ’55-’64 Fullsize GM. This cast aluminum pan would marry the LS series engine to the older style chassis without modifications to the chassis or oil pan. You’d maintain optimal ground clearance as with the older style small block pan. Its wet-sump design eliminates the need for a remote oil filter adaptor and fittings. All transmission mounting points remain intact for electronically controlled transmissions.

Right now I’m just looking for some feedback to see if there are enough folks doing these conversions to warrant the start up.

I think it a great item to be marketing... all of the other aftermarket pans on the market are not cast but light in weight.

I am sure if you could keep the cost down, it would be sure hit with the rest of the swapper here !

I gather that this cast aluminum pan would be like the modified F-Body pan that John B used to sell when he was here in the states? I believe there is a big market for an oil pan that doesn't hang below the crossmember for the "G" body cars and that is made out of cast aluminum. John B used to take and modify an F-Body pan and that was an EXCELLENT pan to put on the "G" body cars but since he is over in Italy for the remainder of the year he is unable to market them, at least for the remainder of this year. In the meantime I had purchased an LH8 oil pan to put on my LS3 that is going in a "G" body car, but I am reluctant to do so because it will hang below the crossmember even though it is only about 2" from pics that I have seen. If you can come up with a pan that doesn't hang below the crossmember and the price is fair, I do believe that you would sell quite a few. I for one would buy one providing that you do not procrastinate on this, because I would like to start on my project as soon as I can get the rest of my parts. Good luck on this and please keep us up to date on the progress that you are making.

We are always looking for options so send some pics to info@brphotrods.com once you get the pan ready. A cast oil pan that would still retain block rigidity would a big hit. Is it going to have a spin on oil filter?

Default Update

Sorry it took so long to get back at you...just like the factory units, the retro pan I'm working up will have a spin on oil filter.

Keep the comment coming. I'm hoping to sit down this week with my pattern maker.

This pan will work well for all rear sump oil pans: http://paceperformance.com/index.asp...&ProdID=245308

Says it is on backorder but just received mine today after ordering it two weeks ago.

That is a LH8 oil pan. From what I have heard the swap kit with the pan in it has been backordered for a while, but the parts are available individually. That pan usually still hangs down a bit, IIRC it is just over an inch shorter than the c/k standard truck pan.

Default In Production

Just keeping you posted - the foundry PO has been submitted. We're hoping to have these available for shipping in 6-8 weeks. I'll keep you posted on our progress and how to get in touch with me once we're ready to ship.

I'd definitely be interested as long as the cost was reasonable.

If the ground clearance simulates the f body pan and price is in line you will have a brisk business..Many of us just need enough room to run factory steering linkage on a rear steer car..
