Default 6.0l lq4 oil pressure gauge??

im swapping a 6.0l lq4 into my 66 chevrolet pickup. ive already went through all the wiring and now im looking for gauges. my question is, can i use the wires that went to the stock guages or is the resistance different or something? i know most people just add sending units but it would be easier for me to use the wires from the pcm if possible. reason i say that is that im keeping the interior wiring harness (or part of it) and using the bcm, because im making my own reincarnation of the passlock system, and ive already cut down and left the wires for the guages thinking i could use them with aftermarket gauges, lets say autometer gauges. if not then where can i put another sender for the oil pressure? i havent seen another spot. i know i can put a temp sensor in the passenger side head. any help is appreciated.
thanks,
John

The oil pressure sensor doesn't go to the PCM, and I'm not sure the original sender will run an aftermarket guage anyway. If your engine doesn't have an oil cooler, it will have a small block off plate right above the oil filter. You can remove that and get one for an F-body that has a place that can be drilled and tapped for an oil sender. Or you can remove the original sender behind the intake, break off the plastic portion of the sender, and drill and tap the aliminum part of the original sender for your sender to thread into, it's not hard to do at all, and it's basically free. Or you can get an adapter to fit the stock location, I'm not sure who sells them but I know they're out there.

These guys have adapter fittings for both aftermarket oil pressure and water temp gauges.

for the coolant sensor i removed the plug on the pass. side head then ran a 1/4" tap through it no need to drill for the oil pressure i drilled and tapped the blockoff plate to the oil cooler
