HELP settle a dispute. Headlight buckets painted/not painted on LT1 Camaro?
I'm currently helping prep/paint/put together a 95 Camaro that we're doing. We'll the boss man and I are arguing on whether or not to paint the lower grill and headlight buckets black or not. I personally think they look WAY better WITH everything painted. He doesn't want to paint it though.
The car is being painted the Corvette Millenium Yellow. It should look great. We're doing a gloss black berger panel with stainless inserts, along with doing a painted gloss black manta stripe on an LS1 style SS hood.
Please post pics of both if you have them.
EDIT: Poll choices mean.
Painted: Means the headlight buckets and grill painted black!
Not Painted: Means the headlight buckets and grill area painted to match the color of the car.

depends, my 95 was red with the black door handles, mirrors, sail panel, grill, camaro inserts and lights, if you keep all those black then it looks great, especially with dark tint. mine had black z06 rims and it was sharp! but, if you change one it messes up the look imo and you should just paint the whole car one color....

Every single Camaro from the factory came with black headlight buckets, and every single one except the '93 Pace Cars and 30th Anniversary Z28s and SSes came with black grills. So my vote is to paint them black.
Anytime I see a Camaro without black headlight buckets, I assume they got in a wreck and the insurance didn't pay for the extra paint.

I suppose pics might help him decide. Don't let him do it solid colored. If not someone else, I will be the one to make a face at it.
This one right here is definitely Millenium Yellow, because it's Brent Franker's.

It's just paint. If it goes on the car and "THE CUSTOMER" doesn't like it, then we can paint those sections black. I can appreciate all the comments and opinions but bottom line is that, if we all did what everyone else does, that would kind of suck.
I get strange looks by some crowds by the mods I have on my 62. Some people think it's blasphemy to "screw up" a classic.
Remember it's just paint and just a car. Have fun with it.

Personally, that's exactly the reason not to do it. You guys are almost as bad as the supra crowd. Those guys think it's taboo to change anything that isn't the "norm" or newest fad.

This is the only somewhat yellow Camaro I have a pic saved of that doesn't have the headlight buckets painted black. Doesn't look good at all compared to having black.
