Default oops... Raced a 911 Turbo!

So I was breaking in my new clutch in my Z06 and I had about 375 miles on it. My friend said "Hey there is a 911 turbo behind us". I was pretty torn between being nice to my clutch and finish properly breaking it in, or racing this guy. So we stopped at a light and sure enough it was a middle age guy and his slightly drunk wife in the 07 911 Turbo. We asked if he wanted to get on the interstate and play and he said "Hell yea!!!" He also said that my car sounded very mean. So we got to doing about 60 and I put it in 3rd gear instead of second to be nice to the clutch. He hit it and I responded, by 110 I had 2 car lengths on him I just shifted it in 4th and shut it down. He slowed and gave me a thumbs up and then solohit off into the night.
I knew this was going to happen while breaking in my clutch . I finished properly breaking in it and it feels great.

All in all it was nice to see a older guy that was not a ***** in a really expensive car.

Yea it was starting to get ugly... from 60 to like 80 he was hanging in there and then I actually got to the mph that the gear is supposed run in. He said he wanted to race a new ZR1 that he saw and the guy wouldn't run him. What are those things supposed to run anywho?

**** if you would have hit him in second you would have ruined him then... haha. What are they suppose to run or why is someone buying it if they aren't going to race it???

Oh I really wanted to try it again in second after I saw the clutch was going to take it like a champ, but he went all rally race on me and was doing like 120 through traffic after he gave me thumbs up.

Yea we had enough room to do a 60-110 by slowing down, but all that cutting people off **** is where street racing gets its bad name from. That is also how people die.

Oh yea for sure, I topped my car out in a NASA buffer zone one time. 170 is all I wanted to go... when you are doing 170 for too long cars a few miles ahead of you start coming up quick.

A 911 Turbo? A mid-low 11 at 120-124 depending on driver and transmission.

Is that all? No wonder Roger left it in third then.

That is pretty stout except for the comparison to the price tag I wish we would have gone to maybe 130 because the pain train was on the way, but a few minivans had other plans for our race.

If you have ever ridden in a Porsche, much less a 997 Turbo, you would understand the price tag almost immediately.

Once you get over the pedals being hinged at the bottom. It takes a little getting used to. But yea Porsches are great cars and a blast to drive. Amazing what they can do with those baby motors.

So I took my car to the track with the ccw drag pack on it... the guy before me said he ran his best time dropping the clutch at 4200 rpm... so I slipped it at 3k. I made it 10ft out of the hole when the diff split in half. I completely destroyed at DTE stage 4 diff.

ouch... been there, done that.. not a pretty site

You must a pretty stout ride to bust a new 911 like that. When my car was stock, I would only eat them up by 3 cars or so

+1

Too rich for my blood but worth every penny if you can swing it. My buddy is a Securities & Exchange lawyer and his 997 GT3 is sex on wheels. I couldn't even afford those ceramic brakes - much less the car.
