Default Front swaybar removal, is it worth it? :discuss:

I am not sold on the idea of removing the front swaybar for drag racing. Other than removing weight from the front of the car, is this really a worthwhile removal?

Well, IMO, since I race A LOT, then yes it is. For the guys casually goes to the track nah. I removed mine, feels a little more leany going into hard curves, but for me thats not too often I enjoy sliding anyway...so, the 60' for a stock powered car and suspension, doubt they would see much, but for modded suspension and power adder or heavy HC cars, I really think it helps.

It does help I think. Will you go from 2.10s to 1.60s on street tires after removing the swaybar? Nope. Is it worth it even if it only gives you .05 in sixty foot? It's free and takes less than 30 mins., worth it to me.

OK, I currently pull consistent 1.6 on my 60' times with 17" nittos or my ET streets. The car runs consistent low 12's (12.3-12.5) and 3 times it has gone 12.20's.
My car is what some have claimed to be sprayed, or a freak because I run these times and my best dyno results are 310.9HP, and 373 TQ.
This is my setup...
it is 100% STOCK internally with STOCK gears 3.23's on 275/40/17 Nitto 555R's @ 17psi and the best 60 on the Nittos is 1.63, and best on ET streets is 1.624 to be exact. This is a full weight car, only the spare and jack are missing.
I have these Mods...
Mac Headers
Custom 2.5" ORP
Vigilante 3,200 stall
Trans-go shift kit
Hayden tranny cooler
Flowmaster 3" single outlet catback
Cutout (Borla type)
ASP Crank pulley
Airlid

I haven't gotten to go back to the track since removed my front swaybar off my 99 SS, but I can tell you from hammering it on the highway(from a dead stop...really late: 4:00am-no traffic), I get A LOT more weight transfer! I would say my cars weight transfer almost doubled. Even when I slam 2nd and 3rd the rear squats the the front raises a lot, and this is on bald stock f1s!

I went from 11.99-11.90 when I had boltons and removing the sway bar was the only change

Running on street tires at the track I went from a 2.2 60' to a 2.0 because of removing the swaybar. I say it works.
