Default GM Repair Manual

Does anybody know where I can get a factory repair manual for my 99 T/A. I don't want one of those crappy $20 ones. How much does a real manual cost? Any help would be appreciated.

This is the manual from the publisher: http://www.helminc.com/helm/product2...149EC4N7SJD6B7

Order forms are also in the back of the owner's manual, but the pricing is out of date.

Or, if you are OK with used or can wait, you can sometimes find good deals on eBay like this: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1999-...sQ5fLiterature

BTW - With Pontiac dealers getting ready to close in the next 2 years, you may see a flood of these as they come off of people's shelves.

Ok this is probably a stupid question but I looked on Ebay and they have the manuals that you guys are talking about. It says 99 firebird three books. Does this include the V8 Trans Am I'm sure it does just want to make sure. Also how good are these manuals. Do they break everything down repair wise in detail and include all parts. Chilton and other manuals like them are pretty generic.

i purchased the service manual mail order when i was buying my 2002 ss. got the service manual from phoenix pontiac i think, the service guy was a member on ls1.com at the time and maybe a sponsor, got the books for around $120 shipped. They are 3 books, or 3 volumes, stacked are about 6-8" high and have tissue paper for pages, 1100+ pages total and covers EVERYTHING, mine says 2002 service manual camaro firebird , published by North American Operations General Motors Corp and covers everything in the v-8 and all the crap in the v-6, diagnostic procedures, repair procedures, fastener specs, and all special gm tools & part #'s.
vol.1 = general info, hvac, steering, suspension, driveline/axle, breaks;
vol2 = everything engine
vol3 = M49, MM6 trans, 4L60-E, clutch, and everything body of the car.

There are differences between each of the 98-02 year models. You would have to do more research to see if another would be "close enough". For example, my '99 & your '01 have very different emissions-control equipment.

Bringing this one back for a quick question. Helm's site shows ONE selection for the service manual. The listing says quantity is 1. This is the $135 option. Does this include all three volumes or are there two other books I need to buy separately?

Link for reference:

Thanks!

Apparently they combined them all for 2002. Look at the 2001 set : http://www.autorepairmanuals.biz/sit...product/GMP01F and the page count.
Here is the 2002 http://www.autorepairmanuals.biz/sit...product/GMP02F and the page count.
