Default chromoly or billet steel fywheel?

i'm gonna be buying a monster stage 2 pretty soon and i can upgrade from a billet steel to a chromoly flywheel for free. my car is street driven with the mods in my sig, and was wondering if i should get the chromoly or stick with the steel for better street manners?

For teh street, I like the lighter setup. May take you a little bit to get used to it, but is not THAT dramatic of a change (yet, it is some) If this was a dedicated track car, and heavy car to boot...you need all the "leverage" you can get, and the heavier flywheel will benefit you. Now, there is a donwside to that. It will hit the tires harder as well, so if you have a problem hooking up, a lighter flywheel can help by not hitting the tires as hard. But, then there is an argument for that as well
To the point, more than likely, if this is a street car that see's the track here and there, I would go with the lightweight setup.

Steel will generally be considered "more streetable" but this is relative, and beyind that it is greatly connected to what the driver is used too. That being said, what tire are you planning to use and what type of use will the car see. Let me know and I will be happy to assist you further. Thanks,

If it's a street car, I'd go chromoly. More of a track car I'd stick with the steel. Cars with the lighter flywheels tend to bog more easily on the launch, especially heavier cars, because they don't have the extra rotating weight to help keep the RPMs up. In theory, the lighter flywheel could possibly net you a little more power (IN THEORY) and won't affect the car as much if you're not launching it a lot (ie roll racing or just cruising around enjoying the car).

going through a stock driveshaft, stock 10 bolt w/4.10's, and 18" nitto dr's. mostly street duty, maybe once or twice at the drag strip a year, not too much roll racing, but i do beat the **** out of it!

Jason, pm me the weight of the car, how you will drive it, and what tire you are putting on it and we'll get you in the right unit.

Give me a call at the shop if you want, it would be easier.

Whats the car weigh? I went w/ a chromoly flywheel and LOVE it drives fine. If
u can't pwr shift your car u might wanna stick w/ the steel. My car is the same....mostly street car and the occasional track trip. However i can shift the hell outta it. The chromoly just releases soooo much faster...as soon as u push the clutch in it's disengauged...so even a decent speed shift can sound slow, u can speed shift it decent if u can do that fast enough.

I'm going to pull the trigger on a monster level 3 or 3.5 tonight, the stocker has held up well but today I tried to pass a van and got a lot of RPM but no speed change at all . I think I'm going to go with the lighter chromoly fw since I never run the car from a dig, its a street car only. Plus since its a free choice no harm done to the wallet.

I weighed mine and it was 21 lbs. Read my post #18 here: https://ls1tech.com/forums/manual-tr...clutch-go.html Back to back dragstrip testing from a stock clutch to a Monster with a 15 lb. flywheel. No real difference. All positive, no negative!

I've seen 23, 22, 21, and 24... cast iron is not consistent.

Glad to hear you like the clutch!

So it has been 5 business days and no email about the status or anything. How long do these usually take to ship?

Our units ship within 72 hours, however, all that were ordered in the last 7 business days were sent emails explaining that we are waiting on our machine shop to send us flywheels, they will be here on Monday if they are the lightweight option and Wednesday for the billet steel setup.
