i have a 06 impala ss, this problem just started a couple days ago, when the vehicle is started theres a loud clicking sounds coming from the dash.. what is it? anyone have this experience? its really annoying, it will only do it for about 30 seconds then shut off, possibly only when using the remote start. im going to double check right now but i dont think so.. any info would be appreciated!.

Sounds to me like the blend door is sticking or otherwise malfunctioning. IIRC, Corny40 had a similar issue that he got fixed. If his post isn't here, it's at www.NAIOA.com.

It's gotta be the HVAC system, since no matter the temp, it kicks on when you use remote start. I don't have the answer, but I'll look at NAIOA for Corny40's thread.

But check for air in the system, as Ill_born mentioned...bleeding the system would be the easiest & least expensive DIY repair.

Never done it myself, but Google is your friend:

how would air in my cooling system make my flapper door stick?

I believe what he's saying is that the sound could be air in the system...not necessarily affecting other parts. i'm thinking its the electrical/actuator problem, but bleed the system just to make sure ur not wasting time n money on parts/labor.

Sorry been swamped.
Select max heat and max blower and then follow these easy instructions.

It could be an actuator but it would give a code in the body control module. There are more than two actuators up in there and they all, also depend on many other sensors to get it right.(ECT,IAT,MAF temp,AC pressure ,Rpm and more)

These LS4`s naturally trap air in the heater hoses atop of the engine and when they start its a mad dash to try and excape but it cant. So you have to do it.

Sorry it took me awhile to get to this, but Buff found my post for you. I hardly ever remote start my car, so of course, I never noticed a correlation. Just started happening one day. Haven't had a problem since it got fixed.

Did you see my post on the link Buff posted for naioa?

I know what that is. I had the exact same thing happen to me. It was right after Hurricane Ike, so I wasn't able to post about it at the time. Sometimes, even after you turn off the car it goes off? right? Well anyway, it did to me. The problem is a temp actuator. Here's what my invoice said:

Left temp actuator out of range
D1812 temperature valve actuator replacement left side
part# 15844096
18551 left temp actuator clicking, setting B0408 code, actuator out of range. replaced left temp actuator with .3 hrs diag time

Hope you're still under warranty, from the looks of my invoice it was 2.8 hours of labor.

No idea what the part ran.

I didn't fix it myself. I was (am) still under warranty.
