Default Loud ticking

Motor has maybe 5000 miles on it. Its a LQ4 with Patriot Ported and milled heads. Dual Patriot springs, summit roller 1.7 rockers. 233/239 595/603 cam. I havent beat on it yet cause of breaking it in. I took it to lunch and punched it just to see what it would do just messing around till 3rd gear let out no problems. Well going to my friends later just driving in traffic I hear a Bump then the loud tapping like something was slamming around in the intake. Pulling the tb off to look in it for metal..nothing. Pull the valve cover off to check springs and pushrods. Nothing loose or broken. Turn the motor over and the rockers move then if ones down it will make a air sound and come back to the top. Its cyl 4. Im hoping its just a broken lifter. Any suggestions?

probably a lifter (~$10 ea)

if you went as far as taking off the valve covers you're not too much further to replace the lifters... just new head gaskets :-/

I bought Comp R lifters to replace them. Ppl say with the dual springs its hurting the stock lifters

Dont forget head bolts as well.....unless you have arp head bolts or studs

but getting a lifter for $10 is going to be the harder part....
