WTF I didn't know that it was possible?
So I just had my motor rebuilt. It's .030 over. Has a new cam new lifters new pushrods andnew lifters. They also put in a new timing chain. I was driving Sunday night and timing chain snapped in three places! WTF. I didn't know that could happen. Now I'm looking for a new timing chain set along with a new timing cover because the old one broke in half.

If all you needed was a new timing chain and new timing cover I would be very very surprised. Usually your valves will hit pistons and bend them...or all sorts of other carnage.
I would remove your valve covers and check it thouroughly. I would also perform a leak down test.

No the shop isn't shady they are covering most everything under warranty. But what I want to know is why it snapped. And if I can get a stronger timing chain for my car. The one that snapped was a stock replacement from cloyes.

It wouldn't hurt to get a Cloyes double roller. But you will have to delete your relctor ring and tune out the cps code. You also have to run an EWP to use the double roller. Not to forget you have to clearance the inside of your new timing cover a little. Since you need a new one, it would be best to get a '95 cover that does not have the hole for the CPS sensor.

I looked into the lt4 chain but I would need to switch to an opti2. Along with a few other things. I just don't want this happening agian. Also I'm not using an after market harmonic balancer.

Oh ****...I thought you had a '96 for some reason...
You didn't answer XpEdItIoUs' question. Are you using an aftermarket harmonic balancer? Do you put the stock flexplate back on?
Being that you have a '94 you don't have many options for a timing set. A new stock replacement timing set should work fine.
You can get a new stock timing set from GMPartsDirect.com
crank sprocket - part#: 10128346 $27.13
cam sprocket - part#: 10128349 $34.88
chain - part#: 10128485 $30.37
If you want to run a double roller, you will have to get a vented opti and a vented timing cover (but you need a new one anyway). Get a '95 cover if you go that route. You will need to get a '96-'97 crank hub because they are shorter and will work with the bigger crank sprocket of a double roller and allow your accessories to align properly. Let me know if you have any questions about it.

stock harmonic balancer and flexplate I believe. I just don't want this happening agian. My mechanic thinks that the chain snapped because of the higher pressure springs I have in the car. But I'm not sure.
