Default Third Gen Camaro Tranny Question

Tomorrow I am picking up a 92 RS with a 305 auto. I have a built iron block 5.7 (bored 5.3) ready to go. I assume the 92 would have a 700r4 with a TV cable? Or is it computer controlled? Anyway, can I make the stock tranny work with the LS1? Or should I look for a different tranny? Thanks guys!

700r4 with tv cable. it has computer controlled lockup converter only. I doubt this stock trans would last long behind a built 5.3L

OK, I shouldnt say the tranny would be bone stock. It would be rebuilt. Just wondering if that would be the way to go. Is a 4th gen 4le60 the only computer controlled tranny that will work? Or would one from a 99+ 2 wheel drive pick up work?

The 4L60E out of a 98-02 f-body is a bolt on. The 99-xx 2WD LS motored truck trans will also work, however you would probably have to switch to the f-body tailhousing because I am assuming you will still be using a torque arm on your 3rd gen (unless your going aftermarket rear suspension).
