Default Carbon Fiber Driveshafts

Does anyone have any experience with them? I have the chance to buy one at a pretty good price. I drag race my car as well as take it to road track events. Will it hold up to my 5k+ clutch dumps?

Im not sure of how much power they hold but I have told that if they do break, because of teh fiber and the way they are constructed they dont do near as much damage as a metal driveshaft.

I'd just go with the Strange 3' chromemoly unit from Spohn (sponsor--->) It'll never break no matter what you throw at it and you won't notice any drivetrain loss of power from whatever the weight difference over the aluminum stocker.

What size is the drive shaft? The 3 1/4" are only good to 500hp, the 3 3/4" are good to 1500hp. The problem with a carbon fiber shaft is that if you run over anything and it nicks the drive shaft its going to come apart no matter what size it is. I don't recommend carbon fiber for any type of street driving at all.

If you could get a sponsor to say that I would be sold immediately.

I'm gonna need a driveshaft, I don't need one right now. I figure I'll get a tough one made when I swap in the S60.

I've had my carbon fiber driveshaft going on 3 years at this point (3.75" dia.)...I used to daily drive it for about 1.5 out of those 3 years, and it is now a garage queen. I don't beat on the car much, so I'm not a great data point, but so far, so good.

Honestly, though, I'd probably just go with a 3.5" aluminum shaft if I had to do it over again - if it ever did fail from getting a chip in it, it would be really expensive to replace for that reason alone.
