I drive a 2000 Pontiac trans am and here one day i got on it a little getting on the highway and the car backfired a few times and cut off. Here recently i will be driving down the road and the car will just turn off for no reason. It will start right back up but just randomly it just cuts off and i can give it a little more gas then normal driving it will cut off. I think the fuel pump is going out but not sure has anybody else had this problem?

could be a ground issue, could be a few things, how about you get a fuel pressure gauge on that bitch before you blow your engine from running too lean if it is indeed a fuel issue :)

could also be your tune getting screwy due to a failing o2

Very easy to check. The schrader valve is on the DS fuel rail. Can't miss it. If it is below 58 psi you have found the problem.

My car did the same thing. Turned out to be the crank position sensor.
