a lot of people are its just preference on how much you want to spend and the quality overall..many people have seats and love them, they are comfy and affordable. but its what you prefer, some are easy to get in and out of and others arent

Most people put in drag seats after they install a cage. It is a convenient time to do so and also offsets the added wieght of the cage (to some extent).

Most drag seats (kirkeys for example) require a rear crossbar for mounting purposes.

Also, you should realize that a "proper" kirkey setup is going to set you back about a grand.

Seat => $150
Seat cover => $80
Seat bracket => $50
5 point harness => $150 (probably find it cheaper)
Back Brace => $90 (I like this one, http://www.ioportracing.com/Merchant...gory_Code=IOPP)

Total => $530
multiply that by two (assuming you want a matching passenger seat), and you have $1060 before tax and shipping. And you still need a Roll Cage.

Sure, some of these things can be fabbed if you have the equipment. But, I am assuming by your question that you probably don't. This extrordinate cost was the deciding factor for me not doing a 10point cage while my interior was gutted during HVAC/Air-bag/ext... delete.

As for comfort, I hear that they are very nice. They also look really clean. https://ls1tech.com/forums/drag-raci...key-seats.html

Well I had kirkeys in a few of my cars and my TA has a set ready to go in soon as well. I usually stick a 17" pro street in the drivers and a regualr 17" economy in the passenger side I think they are comfortable if you set them up to your preference and not just slapping them in and going. Even though I dont mind driving around like that one bit, Ive had a few complaints from passengers...but I like to say "theres always the bus if you dont like it!" lol.

One thing to keep in mind is that checking your blind spots while strapped into a racing seat
is not as easy as it may seem.

kirkey pro street or a JAZ with an extra piece of foam in the bottom. anything else is going to be uncomfortable an make entry and exit more difficult.

I have some procar seats and they were dirt cheap and extremely comfortable not the lightest but a good bit lighter than stock

I run Corbeau Froza IIs which weigh 28lbs a piece w/brackets and are quite comfortable for a light weight fixed-back race seat.

I wouldn't run an aluminum seat on the street. That will get old quick. Run corbeau forza's or the corbeau a4. Best of both worlds and you still loose some weight over factory seats.
