Default new tires worst 60 foot.

I went from 27-10.50-16 mt et streets to some newer 275,50,15 et streets. With my old tires i droped the clutch at 6k and would get 1.78 60 foots. I tried that with my new tires and fried them. I think it was the track that wouldnt hold, but i couldnt tell. so im going to try my normal track.
ps the tires had 18psi and the old tires had 11.

So you went from a Bias Ply (that is not as good as a ET Drag) to a Radial tire?? If so, then your have entered the realm of the "On/Off" switch when dealing with Drag radials and now your need for good suspension pieces has just increased.

List your mods in details, engine, suspension, race weight, basically explain a little more.

thanks!

Its going to be a lot harder to hook up on radials with a 6 speed. You really need to slip the clutch in order to get them to hook. I suggest going back to the bias ply ET street if you need to keep a "street legal" tire.

Or buy all the needed suspension parts and set up the car right.

That's a given no matter what tire he goes with.

I thought they were the same tire just one was wider? My mods are just boltons with an 8.8 rear end and 4.11 gears. Its full weight and has a new torque arm and rear sway bar.

By the way that your stating sizes of the two different tires it sounds like you went from a ET STREET (Bias Ply) to a ET STREET Radial (Drag radial). Is this correct?

Which tire did you have, and which do you currently have?

Does your new tire look like this.....

Or like this....

Thats going to be half the battle.

I suspect that the new tire is a Radial vs a Bias ply and that the ET Street are not as good as far as compound or the "give" of an ET drag but has more "give" then a radial.

Also we didnt ask, got line lock??

the ones on top are my new tires the ones on bottom are the old ones. I still have both. I bought a set of weld racing rims with tires and the radials were on them.
No i dont have a line lock, no front sway bar(i dont think), and the rear springs are stock with bilstien shocks.
If i need to ill just sell both sets and get a set of et drags, but i thought the et street radials would be enough.

18 psi is too high, when you heat your tires they are gonna go up to atleast 20psi. air them down to 15-16 for the track( i run that on the street too) dead hooks on 17"s

yea i know I bought the rims to put some et drags on, but the set came with the dr for 700. So i tried the set out like it was just to see what it would do, but with the boltons i fried them. I need more traction for my head/cam/100shot. so i figured i would go with an taller et drag.(28")
