Click, click noise when taking off from standstill
I am getting a quick "click, click" noise when taking off from standstill. Almost sounds like a solenoid clicking. Sounds like it's coming from the transmission area on an 01 TA M6. Stock clutch with 45k.
It does it every time, but it's more pronouced right after backing up. It also does it in reverse. If I take off twice in a row in 1st gear, it's slightly quieter.
I'm thinking possibly the trans mount, but it seems tight when I lightly placed the jack under the tailstock. Could it be the plastic loom crunching between the trans and the tunnel?
Other than the noise, all seems to be functioning normally. But the noise is getting worse.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Coming from under the car? Or under dash? If you are checking trans mounts, you probaly are thinking it is coing from under car. Does it do it any when you shift into 2nd? 3rd? etc...

^ Yes, it will do it in 2nd and 3rd gears as well - right when the drivetrain is first loaded. But it's harder to hear with the wind/tire noise.
100% it's coming from underneath. I can hear it best in the garage when the sound is bouncing off the floor and walls.

^ Thanks, Midtown.
Do you mean the driveshaft is broken, or flexing because it's aluminum? Since it's getting worse will it eventually let go?
Would like repair advice because I don't like the noise, even if it will last.
Could it be U-joints? They normally squeak or clunk when they're life is over, so my guess is no.
Thanks in advance.

My 2000 m6 ss did it back in 2000 when i worked for GM. i had the dealer replace it under waranty. Then in late 2002 my then new 2001 m6 ss had 3500 miles and started doing the same thing. i never replaced it, the noise went away.now i have 49,000 miles on the same car with heads and cam, no noise same driveshaft. lets see if my new 408 will brake it.
