Going with mild ls1 heads and cam setup in a Malibu and looking to get the best external pump out there for the money. Definitely on a budget just like most others right now. Lower the price the better.

Anyone have any good suggestions?

i wouldnt recomend a external pump theyre loud and unnecessary.

just get you a racetronix hot wire kit i think theyre rated at like 600 700 i duno theyre up there! more than ull need for a mild ls1 and the price is pretty right to about 225!

Just ordered a Walbro 255 (GSL392) including the install kit for $110 shipped from Walbro255.com yesterday. That was the best price I could find on this setup (beating the lowest eBay price by about a buck). That seems to be the external pump of choice for LSx swaps, though obviously there are other options available.

Bosch 044 is the BEST choice. OEM porsche Twin Turbo Pump, it can handle a lot of fuel pressure, flow well, extremely reliable and is used in all the hardcore endurance racing from road race cars to JGTC, Ralley, WRC etcc

...at twice the cost of the Walbro. Good pump for sure, but doesn't exactly meet the "on a budget" concern of the OP. :)

The malibu is already set up for an inline pump and that's the real reason I want to stick with an external pump. It'd make things a lot easier. I don't care about the noise really.

Another vote for the Bosch 044 fuel pump.

Recently built a kit for an '87 El Camino.
The hole in the tank is rather small, but I put dual Walbros in it.

No need to run an external unless you are dead set on it.
