22 psi oil pressure at hot Idle should I be concerned ?
I bought my wife a 99 Trans Am with 83k on it.I went for a ride a week ago it was about 35 psi at Hot Idle.Tonight we went out and from the passenger seat it looked like it was between 20 and 0 I check it at home it is about 22 psi.Oil is full and pretty clean and no knocking that I could hear.Is it the gauge -sending unit or should I be concerned?
Thanks

If we put any stock in our factory guages, we'd have thousands of cars in the shop every day getting checked out.
As long your showing oil pressure, unless its literally sitting on zero, at hot idle....you're fine. The important pressure is when your under throttle or WOT. 35-40 is good just cruising. WOT it should go 3/4 across the guage. But again, the guage can be way off. So just make sure while you're under throttle it immediately climbs up and stays there.

My 402 with 15w50 mobil 1 is 54 psi at cold start idle, 43 once partially warmed up, 40 psi fully warmed up, and 39 hot, 221 is the hottest she ever got on a hot day sitting in traffic after cruising in 6th at about 100 mph and then boom, traffic jam. Sitting in traffic the stroker builds some heat but the built in oil cooler does a nice job.
WOT, no issues 70+
Just need to upgrade my fuel pump (6/22) to maintain fuel pressure, the stocker is tired. LOL

My Chevy Gage says between 50-60psi cold and 35-40 hot and goes to 60psi when at WOT and I have 100k on the stock oil pump.
You only need 10psi for every 1000 rpms the engine is running. unless you are hearing bearing scrapping against the crank for mercy then you are fine.
