Clatter noise

Clatter noise I hear a clatter type noise going from the driver side of the motor when it's at running temp. The noise is not a knock but a clatter type that sounds like a lifter or a rocker but I cant figure it out. The noises comes and goes with no real pattern to it. It lasts for a long time about 5-15 minutes and changes with engine speed however it goes away. Anyone have any suggestions as to what it could be?
