Angry well i hope this works with the new bolt!!!

i had to tear the car apart again because the pulley backed off and i used a new bolt the first time.my torque wrench only goes to a 100ft ibs,, so i hit that with the old bolt and gave it as a few more turns. took the old bolt off and put a new one on. the torqued it to 36ftibs. then tuned the bolt and extra 140 degrees and then sum and loaded up the bolt with lock tite. i hope this freakin works man. that was a pain in my *** to do all that again

You can rent a 250 lb-ft TQ wrench from Autozone for free. I would highly suggest torquing the old bolt to the 240 lb-ft before doing the new bolt procedure. You'd be VERY suprised at how much effort is required to torque the old bolt to 240 lb-ft. If you don't seat it to this TQ spec you won't fully seat the pully on the crank. This means that even if you do follow the new bolts TQ sequence correctly the bolt can still back out b/c it's not fully seated.

believe me i cranked the bolt well past 100ftibs. when i took the bolt out last time there was sum metal shavings on it. so i didnt want to go to crazy with it.i dont want to strip the crank by over tightening it.it frikin better work

I still advise using the GM documented methods of torquing the old bolt to 240 lb-ft, remove the bolt, insert new, TQ to 36 lb-ft and turn it another 140*. Every one that I have ever done has never had a problem doing it this way. It's the only way I have done it.

I don't think it is necessary to hit 240 at all. You can tell when the pulley is seated. 150-180lbft will be enough to make sure its pressed on there good.

I have no idea why yours backed out, it does seem to happen from time to time. I've had countless pullies off with no problem, but its not the first time I've heard of one coming off.

240 ft lbs on the ground with a TQ wrench is no joke. I had to anchor myself pretty well in order to hear the wrench click

No doubt man. I can't do it myself. It takes my brother and I at the same time pulling to get it. We're only ~140lbs each, lol.
