Default BFG G-force KD vs Nitto 555R

I currently have 275/40/17 BFG G-force T/A KD on my Z. They seem pretty wide for a 275. I am considering going to a Nitto 555R in the rear but heard they run skinny. Nitto's site and BFG's site list the section width as being the same but I'm wondering about the actual tread width/footprint.

Anyone have pics of a Nitto 555R drag radial compared to BF Goodrich G-force T/A KD? As long as they are the same size it serves for comparison.

I don't have any pics but I originally ordered 315/35/17 Nitto's and ended up ordering the BFG KD's because I thought the Nitto's were going to be skinny. When I finally got them side by side it was AMAZING how much wider the KD's were. At least a 1.5 inch difference and VERY noticeable just by looking. Exact same size tires, but the Nitto's looked more like 295's. As far as hooking though, my 275 Nitto 555r's hooked WAY better than my KD 315's.

I can get some pics in the morning. I've got a 275/40/17 BFG KD sitting in my shed, right next to my 17x9's with 275/40/17 Nittos.

KD's are the biggest cross section I think on the market. They are outright huge compared to other tires of the same size. Mine hook pretty damn good once they get some heat in them.

tspense45-- that would be great if you could snap a pic and maybe measure the actual tread width with a tape and snap a pic!

Thanks to everyone for the help

Alright, here's my pics. Section width on the BFG's is about an inch wider. It's also a little different since the Nitto is mounted on a tire, and the BFG isn't. But, section width on the Nitto was about 10", and the BFG was nearly 11". Sorry the pics are kinda crappy.

I think the kdws are alittle short for me. I put them on my car, and the rear looked alittle smaller than the fronts, it killed me.. but they did hook pretty good, if I threw the rocks off em.. I just ordered some MT 295 45 17s I'll post pics as soon as I get them... should be about 27" tall, and 10.5 wide.. so that would fix the rear looking smaller than the fronts issue I had with the bfgs
